24-Hours in a Day
Hello there.
A somber song with my crappy guitar picking. I suppose you could use your imagination of which I know everyone here has a great imagination. Any feedback is welcome, thanks.
And I get it, if ya'd rather just read the lyric to comment and not listen as "Snoflake" plays at this moment on my SoundCloud, I'll never measure up. It is what it is...and what it isn't, too! 🤗
But on my behalf, I will say I tried sticking in a Bridge. Rainy Day came to mind as on a couple of my previous songs, he suggested a Bridge to break up the monotony a bit.
For a listen to far less than perfect ===> https://soundcloud.com/reneelachapelle/24-hours-in-a-day
24-HOURS IN A DAY
[Verse 1]
Draw the blinds, another day shot to hell
Draw the blinds, another day shot to hell
The little I’ve done isn’t too hard to tell
[Chorus 1]
24-hours in a day is all you get
24-hours to remember or to forget
Whoa-whoa, Whoa-whoa
Whoa-whoa, Whoa-whoa
[Verse 2]
Where the time goes to, I really don’t know
All I know is I’ve got so little to show
I suppose it’s true you reap what you sow
[Chorus 1]
24-hours in a day is all you get
24-hours to remember or to forget
[Bridge]
Oh, I could write ten songs on a good day
But what good is ten songs when in my head they play?
Whoa-whoa, Whoa-whoa
Whoa-whoa, Whoa-whoa
[Chorus 2]
24-hours in a day is all you get
24-hours to remember or to regret
Whoa-whoa, Whoa-whoa
Whoa-whoa, Whoa-whoa
[Verse 1 Return]
Draw the blinds, another day shot to hell
Draw the blinds, another day shot to hell
The little I’ve done isn’t too hard to tell
Whoa-whoa, Whoa-whoa
Whoa-whoa, Whoa-whoa

You pulled it off on just a guitar vocal , that's one of your best
I'm surprised living in Nashville , you're not living in recording studios . They're about on every corner

@ElvisNash recording studios cost $$$. I live alone with my dog and rents here have exploded to the point of wondering how long you can keep a roof. In my earlier days here I spent money at a few studios but never saw a return. And my songwriting wasn't all that good when I did spend the money. Also, spent a fair amount of money on songwriting workshops and guitars thinking if I had a new guitar I'd play better, LOL! Live and Learn; It's all good.
I wasn't cut out for guitar or any instrument that I can think of. But I love writing lyrics...A LOT!
Another scan of the lyric, I probably could put her to the blues in Am... but I Iike the progression I'm using.
And thank you for the compliment on my song,
Renee

An excellent song Renee, very very good.
Enjoyed this a lot, simple yet inspiring.
Well sung too, flowed very well.
One for the album, this one.

@HummerWisdom - Renee, I agree with Elvis. You emote very well. Great song.1

It's a good one Renee. I'd rather you hear you playing and singing than a backing track - then I know I'm hearing it as you heard it in your head rather than what was available on Youtube. I'm interested in the song, and the songwriting more than the performance.
This is wistful and laidback and that suits the lyric. I like your chorus, and the variation between the verse and chorus works well. And the bridge works too.
Good stuff.

@ElvisNash I don't know about doing a good job. I gave it a good try. Had a hell of alotta fun early on; say the first 5 years or so. After that, well, let's just say I could leave here tomorrow, hardly looking back. 😜

@ElvisNash 10 years sounds about right and I have heard that some place before. A lot of the people I knew either died or moved on. Honestly, I don't go out much anymore. Got dreadfully sick of bars. Wouldn't mind finding a songwriter circle again. The ones I used to go to, dried up (during Covid). I really like song circles. People actually shut up and listen. Bars, not so much other than the Bluebird and their quiet policy. But I'm really not Bluebird material, tho' earlier on I got my 5-minutes of fame trying out. You would do great at the Bluebird! Ever tried it?
