Lost Soldier

Good Day, Songsters!
This song is a collaboration for a commemorative recording project in the remembrance of 9/11.
I wrote the lyric and the music and production was done by Brian Crabb, who asked me to be a part of the project. The vocals were performed by Lyle Ronglien, of whom I've never met. I feel Lyle did the song great justice as he sings his heart out!
Also, to note, Brian added the Tag of which I feel was much needed and pays off nicely..
Though this song is not about my actual brother, I feel it's a true story nonetheless as countless soldiers who return from war are damaged for life. Anyway, I don't have many of these full-production songs to share. I hope you enjoy it as I still do in all of its' tragic and sadness.

LOST SOLDIER
[Verse 1]
That’s a picture of my brother
Before he went off to war
Here’s a picture of my brother
I don’t know him anymore
[Verse 2]
Well, he’s still in his battle
It consumes him every day
Eyes full of rage and fight
Red from drinkin’ last night
[Climb]
He used to send me letters
So full of dreams and hope
He used to send me letters
That’s the way that he would cope, now
[Chorus]
He’s a lost soldier, lost and beaten down
Now, he’s a lost soldier
Anyone seen my brother around?
[Verse 3]
That’s a picture of my brother
Before he went off to war
Here’s a picture of my brother
I can’t find him anymore
[Verse 4]
His arms are still big an’ strong
From wheelin’ himself around
But the legs that he’s missing
Won’t let him stand his ground
[Climb]
He used to send me letters
So full of dreams and hope
He used to send me letters
Now, he’s strung out on dope, now
[Chorus]
He’s a lost soldier, lost and beaten down
Now, he’s a lost soldier
Anyone seen my brother around?
Oooh-oooh, Oooh-oooh, Oooh-oooh, Oooh-oooh
[Verse 5]
That’s a picture of my brother
Before he went off to war
Here’s a picture of my brother
He don’t love anything anymore
[Climb]
And he hates himself and God
And he misses his wife and kids
Here’s a picture of my brother
And that’s all that there is
[Tag]
Let’s go find my brother
And give him a hug
Go find my brother
And give him your love
Please go find our brothers
And give them a hug
Go find our brothers and sisters
And shower them with love
Please go find our brothers
And give them a hug
Go find our brothers and sisters
And shower them with love
Oooh-oooh, Oooh-oooh, Oooh-oooh, Oooh-oooh
That’s a picture of my brother..

Yup it's a big problem PTSD on wars . Vet hospitals are over whelmed on treatment

There's few soldiers that come back the same - and not for the better.
This really captures that well. My favorite lines are:
Here’s a picture of my brother
And that’s all that there is
Lovely to hear one of your songs with a full production, it came out great!

@RainyDayMan thanks so much, Owen. Yes, full-production sure is nice, BUT......
Have a lovely night playing your Uke. Can't wait to hear your next song with the lovely notes.

Very powerful song, of an oft forgotten legacy of war.
The words are a profound testament of the horrors they face to protect those left behind at home.
We owe them a great deal more than we can ever repay.
Your song is an apt installment of that debt.
Well done, Renee.

I saw a comment long ago that said, "The first casualty of war is truth. The second casualty of war is the innocence of a generation of young men. Your song brought that back to the front of my mind. This builds beautifully to provide a complete emotional story. VERY well done.

@Hardtwistmusic I've heard your first statement as well. The the second one, I'd never heard. Thank you for the enlightenment as sad as it is; truth is king!
And thank you for the compliment on the song.
Truly,
Renee
