Old Man's Dream

Piano- Blair Masters

Drums- Brian Fullen

guitar Dan Favorite

slide guitar- Steve Hinson

songwriter, bass guitar and vocals-Toney Wright

I don't ask for much

just love and harmony

in a blissful serenity

with you there

I don't ask for much

just for some you and me

your loving company

shows me how you care

I don't ask for much

just for you to see

how much you mean to me

you're my sunbeam

now I don't ask for much

please try to understand

I'm still a young man

in an old man's dream

When the rain's coming down

and the skies are all gray

I'll play my ukulele

while you sing those blues away

and just like that

lo and behold

we're dancing in the puddles

like we're eighteen years old

we're dancing in the puddles

like we're eighteen years old

I don't ask for much

  • good melody, but you should bring the vocals up more. the background music is drowning you out.

That was brilliant Toney, absolutly loved it. Have to agree with Bill re bringing the vocals up more though.

One of the best I've heard recently, and that is some company your keeping on this forum.

If you do adjust the vocals, please repost the song and let me know where, this is a keeper for sure.

Thank you so much for sharing Toney, pleasure to listen to your work, it really is.

@bhengen I turned the music mix down a tad and the vocals up a tad. Thanks!

@sidshovel Thanks so much Sid! Coming from a great lyricist as yourself it means a lot. I bumped the vocals up and replaced the track, so the link that's posted now will work. Thanks again.

Thanks Toney, that's spot on now.

Some great lines in this song, just one of many:

    "I'm still a young man

    in an old man's dream."

    Love it.

    "I'm still a young man

    In an old mans dream"

AS an old man myself, I can def relate to this song, and especially those lines. Digging on that guitar work Toney. Music really can take you to a different place and time so I can see him playing and her singing, and just like that they are 18 again, if only for a little while.

    Keep em coming man

  • Nicely done. Good song!

    RainyDayMan Thanks very much, Owen!

@Barry Thank you Barry. I pictured them both being rockers back in the day. I read a quote once " young guitar players will one day become old ukulele players" That's why I had him playing the ukulele.

Yeah in rockers, on the porch, with an old dog at that their feet.

  • Oh no! I just got the uke!

  • Sweet song @Cove very sincere and the melody is catchy. Found myself singing along in no time at all!

    Keep 'em comin',

    Renee
