Somewhere South Of Heaven
By Roy Harris and Mike Grayson
Vocal - Mike Grayson

This road has been a long one
At times it was downright rough
Sometimes it ran so straight and smooth
I could never go fast enough
But now it’s coming to an end
My destination’s clear
I’m somewhere south of Heaven
I can see it all from here

Chorus
I see those Pearly Gates ahead
See how His love light shines
I'm somewhere south of heaven
Streets of gold, it's almost time

When I'd fall and let my Saviour down
He never gave up on me
Instead He always hung around
Picked me up and carried me
I believe He means to see me through
To where the road will end
Now I’m somewhere south of Heaven
It’s just around the bend

CH

Tag
So open up those Pearly Gates
This cowboy’s coming through
I’m somewhere south of Heaven
And I can’t wait to be with You

Yep, I like it, Roy. Played it back and gave me some goosebumps. I think it's a tight little number that would benefit greatly from a real treatment. Oh and by the way, I need to go by Wyatt Grayson now (but of course anybody can call me Mike, that's what my mom did). There's another Mike Grayson so I had to step aside on that.

Thanks for the reminder.  I knew you had changed it but I couldn't remember what it was.

Roy, I'm new here on the forum and this song is the first I've listened to. Just want to say your tune is beautiful, strongly conveys a very uplifting message and personally, is very touching. Five stars from another Texian; Ole Scratch...

Hey Roy, sorry for taking so long to comment on this.  Wyatt nailed it!  It has a traveling song feel to it that brings the 'road of life' theme out very well.  His vocals also reflect the theme very well.  Great write, and great job on the music!

As you well know Roy, 'somewhere south of heaven' has always been one of my all time favorite hooks! Really glad to see it finally get it's wings! :) A great piece of writing Roy and love what you did with it Janke!  Two thumbs up, boys!

Thanks everybody for listening and the nice comments. Agree with Sarah, Roy, that line you came up with needed a song for it. I think you did so very well with this one.
