Life Is So Fine (Barbara Jean)
(Lyrics by Marty Ray Boone)

Life is so fine with a bottle of wine

And my girl Barbara Jean staying close to me

She soothes my soul Barbara makes me feel whole

Love is complete and it's sweet

Chorus: Oh, Barbara Jean what would I do
If I were to live a life without you?
I'd be lost as a lamb
Trying to get home again
Yeah, Oh, Barbara Jean what would I do?

Stay beside me every night When I love you I know it's right

Down by the shore babe your love gives me more

Essence of love from God above

Love so complete and just so sweet

Repeat chorus

Loving so mild then you give me a child

Over the years without any fears

Drinking the wine then love so fine

Sweet tears of joy girl you gave me a boy

Over the years raise a family.
Repeat chorus        :)

I think you have a good start here. The first four lines seem to fit together fine but for me, after that it loses it's cohesiveness. A lot of good lines when they are on their own but I think they need to tie together a little better. One thing I could be having trouble with is the way it's laid out. 13 lines all in a row. I can't tell where the verse would start and stop or where (or what) the chorus is. I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm having trouble finding a groove to sing along to this. Do you have any music or a melody in mind yet? Because sometimes something might not look so right when you're reading it but when it's performed the right way, it all works out fine.

As an amateur song writer I am honored that you have critiqued my song. Maybe I could go back and make improvements or maybe whoever writes the tune could help. I am willing to go 50-50 on profits if there are any. It seems fair. Thanks again!

No problem at all but you have to remember, I'm just an amateur myself! I'd keep working on this one and with any future songs, if you can find more of a structure to it all, it can help you piece everything together. I will also add, if you haven't already, you should check out Holloween in this weeks open mic by wavehellomachine. He is a master at pulling of songs in the non-traditional form of verse-chorus-verse. Keep it up! :)

I wrote a country song today! I think Dennis will love it. It has a chorus definitely! It is about the love of a good woman and how it drives a man crazy! Maybe you could check out "Crazy man" tomorrow on the country music section.

The demo company added a chorus to the song so I will now add the chorus.

Genuine feelings, I have to admit. But I would substitute for "love like a dove."

Jim, if you see this, the dove is a bird compared to God's holy spirit and to me love is a spiritual thing since eternal souls are created from the love of a man and woman. Maybe I could change the line to "Essence of love, from above". The meaning is the same to me. Love comes from God. The essence of it is a holy thing.

Great demo.  The demo company did what they were paid to do.  They turned this into a very good song.  And the singer is fantastic.

Man! I sure am glad Roy listened to this one and bumped it back up! I see it was posted in July prior to my return in August... and try as I may I still haven't been able to get caught up on everything that was posted during my absence!  But I'm really glad I got to hear this one! This is really good, Marty! I'm very impressed with the job the demo company did on it for you! I'm also with Roy on the singer...he's fantastic!

Really happy for you Marty! :) Good job!

Sorry it took me so long to give this a listen. I think it's great! I think it's a song that most of us can relate to. I don't listen to much country music, but one thing I appreciate is how straightforward and wholesome it is.

A demo company in Nashville Tennessee wrote the tune. "Nashville song service". One of their singers did the vocal but I can sing also. I have made some home recorded demos with me singing and sent them out. Invested a lot of money in music but have never made a penny on it!
