I think that all my songs are pretty sad!

This admission is reflected in your writing. Hence, you will write a song which others will say is 'great'. It is this factor which provides hope for our endeavors, not just
what we think of our work. If you have never experienced misfortune, sadness and loss, words will be empty and meaningless. Real country music will be lost as the majority will be stuck in the past, and the song writers will be gone forever! Keep it up mate! cb.

I think the saddest song I ever had a hand in writing was one that Crystal Collins was so kind as to co-write with me called, "What Do Say When It's Over".

Big John

Shine. It's in the Open Mic 2009 archives. About an old neighbor of mine. He was the kind of guy that was good at everything and everyone said he would go on to do great things. Unfortunately in his senior year in high school he got cancer. In the real life version, he beat it for about 10 years before passing away.

The saddest for me was the song I wrote around this time last year for my other Mother (my Mother in law) who had recently passed October 17th. She was a dear sweet lady who often told me I was the daughter she never had. I loved her very much and miss her terribly...especially this time of the year. 'Tonight Another Angel Got Her Wings' can also be found in the 2009 open mic archives. However, it's lyrics only, and until I can sing it without crying, it will remain so. :)

I really like 'I Am High'.  Has the touch of the 'Grandaddy of 'em All' Ernest Tubb. Cb

Read your 'thoughts' [expressed in your words].  Beautifully put.  Thanks.  I think it is true to say, 'There is a good song in each of us', just waiting to come out.  Your words deserve it!  cb.

Thanks again my friend. I appreciate the kind words. I will however apologize for the recordings. I quit performing because I developed a viral infection in my vocal cords. I lost my voice completely for months and the doctors thought I'd would never talk above a whisper but I got it back. Those home made recordings were made just after I got a speaking voice back so they are HORRIBLE....lol. I have my voice back completely now and one day i hope to redo all those with a band of some kind just for prosperitys sake....lol.

'Tight rope' It's about a boy who dreamt of becoming a clown in the circus, only to live his dream and find out that life on the road is lonely and being a clown is pretty hard work and nobody respects a clown, really. He has no friends, his only friends are when the lights come on in the circus and he starts fooling around. Then after the show, everybody goes home and leaves him alone without a second's thought.

Needless to say, it doesn't end on a high note.

Actually my "cowboy " song for this year is pretty sad and melancholy, I just cannot get the vox right, but I'm to embarrassed to ask someone else to sing it.

A pretty sad state of affairs all round.Lol
