After several months of working on it, I finally got the last of the songs done for the CD I've been working on.  This song wasn't originally going to be on the CD, but when I started composing it last week I KNEW this song HAD to go on the it.  I'm particularly proud of it because it REALLY stretched my limits both as a musician as well as on the recording side.  Let me know what you think.

In His Image

© 2010 Dave George

VERSE 1:

In the beginning, when the world was very young

And God purveyed his work and saw his work was yet undone.

So he reached down and in the dust that he would take

Formed the image of his glory in the man that he would make.

Though the rest of his creation, he created by command

Man alone was crafted by his hands.

CHORUS:
In his image I was chosen to be the master of all things,

And to speak the name of God and know the glory that it brings.

In his image I got wisdom so I could fully understand

The majesty of his eternal plan,

And to know that who I am

I’m the image of his love.

VERSE 2:

In the creation of everything we see

God decided in his wisdom the special place that man should be

So he gave him, through the power in his hands

The likeness of his maker so he alone could understand.

Of all the treasures in existence, of all the plans that God had laid

He is the greatest of the works that God had made.

CHORUS:

BRIDGE:

He is the power

He is the glory of the man that I can be.

He’s my creator, and in his image

I can shine his light for all the world to see.

CHORUS:

OUTRO:

He is my power, he is my glory

He’s the source of all I am

And I’m the image of his love

Thanks Terry. I think this song kinda got shuffled back in the pack so it didn't get too much coverage here. But I appreciate your response.

Uplifting, Dave. A lot of work, I can imagine. The result shows it. And I think you took a really nice angle on the story on our creation. I appreciate the message.

Thanks Janke. I'm learning just how much work it can be now that I'm trying to master it. With that much happening in the music it's really hard to keep everything sounding 'separated'

Dave, I absolutely love this song! I'm so glad it didn't end up on the cutting room floor! It's very well written and the music is perfect for it. You did a wonderful job on singing it too and I especially like what you did to the video on chorus' 2 and 3. As the pictures went from one to the other I thought to myself...how  in the world did he think to do something like this? But then I remembered who your co-writer is. :)

I can tell you're very excited about finally finishing your new CD and I'm really happy for you DD. Until a couple of weeks ago I had no idea what it takes to do something like this and all I did was record one little ol' song with my keyboard, but it took me all day to do it! So I think I have a good idea now of what goes into producing a full blown CD with all the bells and whistles and how much work is involved. So BIG congrats on hanging in there and getting it done!  As soon as they are available I'd like to buy a CD so please tell me where, when and how as soon as you have all the details. :)

Thanks Sara..

Yeah, I have to admit that even after writing the song it never occurred to me that all of the greatest accomplishments of mankind are because of what we received from God from the very beginning. It even surprised me when I started putting those pictures together.

Yes indeed, the CD was a pretty big effort, but I sent them out to production with CD Baby Duplication Services on Friday last week, so they should be getting here on Oct 1. I had done a previous CD with a lot of my earlier stuff, but it was a rather quick and sloppy job as compared to the fit and finish I tried to do on this one. Once I get the CD's in hand I'm going to go ahead and release it through CD Baby as both an orderable CD and a download through iTunes, Rhapsody, and Amazon. I don't expect to see a lot on sales but it will save me a lot of time and grief from trying to mail them out myself, but I'll let you know when it's there.

Thanks again for all your kind words and support.

DD
