This is a song I wrote for Easter, but am also including it in my new musical "1983". It's a song about spirituality.

Look At Me With Your Heart

Music and Lyrics by Clark Ford
Copyright 2010

Look at me,what you see with your eyes
Is only a part of me
Close your eyes, look at me with your heart.

(Repeat)
I am spirit, I am life, I am light
Let me shine on you
I am love, let my heart touch your soul

I am beauty, I am joy, I am peace,
Let me comfort you
I am caring let me heal your wounds

I am here now, and forever
I'll be there when you call for me
In spirit we're all part of the infinite one

Look at me, what you see with your eyes
Is only a part of me
Close your eyes, look at me with your heart.

Hi Clark,

Very nice! I'm wondering if you intentionally wrote many of the lines beginning with "I am" referring to the Lord's name "I am". Maybe you did not, but I found it to be a hidden component in the lyric.

It sounds like your vocal melody is doubled by the piano. Is this common in Gospel music today? I'm not as familiar.

Troy,
Thanks for your comments. The song was first written for an Easter play, this essentially the words of Jesus to Pilate. I thought the message was universal.
This song definitely needs a real piano (or other) arrangement! This was just a very rough demo. I would be glad to work with anyone who wants to take this on!

Oh, I see now.

Well, Clark! You have a very good start! On my way to visit my mother, your melody  stuck and came along for the ride. :)

Best of luck with this.

Troy

Clark - what a beautiful poem.  I liked the music ok.  I don't always miss a bridge, but I did here maybe.  The melody grew on me.  You sure got the words.  You really articulated, I think, a contrast of the physical and spiritual.

Very nice Clark.  Yes, I can see how and where this would work very nicely in a choir arrangement, not necessarily just for Easter. :)
