"The moon sits heavy and low – the ghost of romance’s torch." I hope you realize that you have written one-hell of a great line. Those few words speak volumns. In a handfull of words you tell an entire story. Really really good.....Not an easy topic to write about, but one that demands to be written about. I don't know anything about you, but I do know that I like the way you write. You're not afraid to write the stuff that hurts. Sometimes it hurts for people to read it. Sometimes it hurts you to write it. Sometimes both. Either way, it's inside of you and you have to write it. I imagine that technically, a pro songwriter of the current Nashville genre could go through the song and say "throw this out, rewrite that, shorten this and so on, but I think there's a lot to be said for writing what you feel, just the way you feel it....Keep doing what you're doing...

Thanks Missouri.  Usually I'm not so heavy on the sentimental imagery, but it's what I saw when I sat down beside her on that porch.  So thanks for letting me know you liked it!  As far as hurting it to write, I agree, especiallly when they're demanding to be written at 3 in the morning . . .

What a great hook/title, didn't get at first just like the singer, I got it after he returned home!! Some excellent writing, powerful lyric. It is a keeper.
