I'm in with I wish it could be me.  Written by James Kennedy (Kennedy9154). I sang this at his request to see how it would sound with a female singer. I hope you like it .

I Wish it Could Be Me
Written by: James Kennedy
Sung by: Dannette Beebe

V1
I can’t believe it’s really over
after all that we’ve been through
Cant believe you found another
even though i know it’s true
Someone said they saw you with her
said you looked happy as could be
I’m glad to know someone’s happy
I just wish it could be me

CHORUS
Oh i wish it could be me
that you dream about at night
and i’d give anything to be
the lucky one who holds you tight
I thought we’d grow old together
this ain’t how it’s s’posed to be
Somewhere tonight you hold another
Lord i wish it could be me

V2
Can’t forget the day i met you
or the day we said “ I DO”
Can’t forget the day you left me
and all the dreams that won’t be coming true
This time i know you’re gone forever
But it’s killin’ me to set you free
You’ve given your heart to another
how i wish it could be me

REPEAT CHORUS

I would say it sounds pretty danged good with this particular female singer.  Wow, Danette, what a voice.  What a country voice.  Country the way it is supposed to sound.  James is one lucky dude to have you sing this one.  I could listen to this all night.  As a matter of fact, I just might.

What a fantastic job on a very good song. This is so well done. My favorite is the falsetto note in the chorus. It's fabulous!

So, I have to know. How are you recording this? Do you have recording gear and do it at home?

Thanks for the listen and the nice comments.
Sara...hope when you get to hear it you like it too
Art ...you and everyone always makes me feel welcome no matter where I post...even though it feels like you are "letting it all hang out"
Roy..I'm always inspired by you kind words and I'm glad you like country!
C2 ...I'm also encouraged by your words...I agree with you, this a great song. I do have recording equipment capable of this recording. I did have to change the key from d to b to better fit my voice. However I still took it to the studio to record this for James.

Nice job on the vocal Dannette! You really put emotion to those fine lyrics James wrote. Traditional Country flavor right there!

Nice work all around!

Thanks for the comments on the lyrics everyone. Dannette did a great job...But it was Art Holt who steered me to her, so I can't really take the credit for knocking on her door. Art kept telling me to ask her, and I just didn't really think she'd be interested...He kept pushing til I finally asked...You know the rest.

Wow where do I start..
John ,Troy and Kevin , thanks for the encouragement
Sara ...who wouldn't be pumped after your comments....I felt honored that James asked me . I've heard the talented people that he has had do his demos. I was a little intimidated when he first asked. But I loved the song so much I had to try. I'm thrilled at the response because it is a well written lyric and deserves to be exposed for the great song it is.
James and Art, Art thanks for pushing, James thanks for the opportunity. The door's always open!

Dannette I'm blown away! Amazing voice and great lyrics. You gotta like that. Kudo's to both you and James. Do you sing out professionally?

Dannette, you are truly an asset to our little musical family and I am so glad that Art twisted James' arm into asking you to sing his song!!! I sincerely hope you'll keep on hanging out with us and do many, many more here in the forum as your vocals need to be heard!  And James and Art, if it hadn't been for you guys we might not be enjoying her beautiful voice right now! I want her to stay!!!!! :D:D:D So if her singing more songs is what it takes to keep her here, then boys work her backside off!!!!

Dannette, I wish I had thought of this last night.....:clappingface .....very nicely done!!!!

Man did I ever enjoy that one!!!!  If ever I write a song that needs a female duet partner I'll be begging on my knees for you to sing with me thats for sure.

What a joy to listen to as I tidy up my office.
