Happy Thanksgiving TSF

Thanksgiving with the family

Thanksgivings at my house again
I'll have to treat my family like friends
wishing it was just me and my bride - but
Lord they all just love our double wide

Brothers n sisters with their snot nose brats
Mom and Daddy Uncles and Aunts
I love em dearly but I wish they'd all
just go on to Denny's or just stay home
They'll all be talkin through the football game
yeah every year it's the same old same
Trucks parked up and down my block -man
last year they broke my Elvis clock

Thanksgiving's at my house again
I'll have to treat my family like friends
I'm not saying they ain't welcome here - but
I'm thankful this comes only once a year

I'll have to deal with my brother in law
know he'll be drinking up until he falls
the only time that he'll shut up - is
while he sleeps it off in his truck

We'll all have turkey and some pumpkin pie
and through it all I'll wear my happy disguise
keeping the peace while spreading cheer
collecting keys cause they'll all sleep here

Yeah it's that time of year again
I'll have to treat my family like friends
smiling big while they drink my beer
all the while I'm wishing they weren't here

It's Thanksgiving with the family
next time it will be Christmas eve
I think I'll tell em that we're leaving town
don't come for Christmas cause we won't be around

Disclaimer
Other than the brother in law, this is completely fictitious.

Thanks Rob, it was fun to write this thing. It's not meant to be anything serious, I got the idea yesterday trying to think of a Christmas topic to write about. Still thinking of a Christmas song idea. Maybe I'll do a Christmas in the trailer park thing, or maybe a serious song about Christmas.

Red, this is indeed a good write old friend, but it is also funny as heck!!! LOL Sounding really good on those vocals and I am so happy to hear you doing it.

There's a sumbody on here that has been on my case a lot lately about gettin' my own self set up for audio! But wouldn't it be a hoot if I did? Because then you guys would not only have to 'read' this crap I write all time, you also have to 'listen' to a bunch of crap! And I'm referring to my vocals! lol  But I think you do a very good job and with a little music behind you you would be dynamite!!! :D

Dennis, thanks man glad I could cheer you up some.

Sara, you should do the audio thing too. You know what they say about the apple and the tree. Danny got them pipes of his somewhere. I would love to hear you giving us your melody ideas when you post your writes. Glad you enjoyed this little ditty.

I didn't listen before my first comment because the pc with sound was the one infected... it's fixed and I'm back!  Nice melody and goes well with the lyrics... enjoyed it!

Red, I 'only wish' ! But I'm afraid dear old Mom can't take even one iota of credit for that Son of mine's vocals, he was simply born to do it! But it's folks like you who make me want to sometimes try it because of some of the things you guys will try your hand at. However, with that said, I doubt very much that I would ever attempt to sing acapella. You and Dennis have done it several times and you're both very good at it...plus you both have very good voices to do it with! But I have always thoroughly enjoyed listening to you folks come into open mic and let it all hang out, and by just finding the courage to come into this section and do the things we sometimes do here sometimes leads us to do things that we never imagined we would someday be doing...and that's pretty doggone great!!! ( And I hope all that gibberish made sense. lol) But maybe one day I'll get set up here so that I can at least let you hear the melodies for some of my songs when I post them. :)

Thanks James. I'm trying to think of something along those lines for a Christmas song. How does this sound? Something rough I was just thinking of while driving to the office.......

The lights are still up from last year
have to dig out that old tree
that we got at the garage sale
way back in eighty three
My credit cards already maxed
have to get a pay day advance
so I can go up to wallmart
with some jingle in my pants

I like it ... gotta think of some redneck things to use as lights ... maybe a blue light or lava lamp or something.  Or this!  (if the picture works).

LMBO James, don't worry about the gutter. This was all meant to be in fun.

That's pretty funny Red. Sounds a lot like Thanksgiving at our house. Now all it needs is a little music to round it out. Good job.

Maybe I'll have enough guitar skills next Thanksgiving to provide some music to fill in the blanks. Thanks for the kind words on my otherwise twisted sense of humor.

Hey Barry,

Funny song.... and filled with scenes many people can relate to! I particularly like this line:

They'll all be talkin through the football game

I can picture you trying to relax and enjoy the game and they're walking in front of the TV and chatting away.

Love the food! Love the family! But man it's nice when they all leave you in peace.... isn't it?

-Troy
