'I'm in' with a narrated poem that IS a true story!  Please excuse the bad mixing on the spoken words... I was a little shaken up by recalling the scenes.

The Ghost!
    ©2009 Dennis Railey

Out of darkness came a ghost
 On the night of halloween
 Striking fear into the hearts
Of the souls who had seen
His image branded in their minds
 Forever to behold
 His frightful presense threatening
 They had nowhwere to go

He brought with him a weapon
 And brandished it with pride
 Delighted at the faces
 Of those it mortified
 Ominous and bold
 Stalking through the night
 His motivation purely
 The world to terrorize

 He carried out his mission
 Striking one by one
 All of those he sought
 He left no job undone
 Looking ever forward
For one more soul to meet
To see the fear in their eyes!

Actually, it is me, and it's really not a very good job of it... I'm not practiced at speaking dramatically.  I probably could have found a better effect to use also, but I just used the first pan delay I came to... as it turns out, you can't hear the pan because it converts to mono between my recorder and the pc... and it makes a BIG difference in the impact when the sounds are bouncing back and forth, along with coming from different directions.  That's all changing soon because I'm going to start doing everything directly onto the computer... it will solve alot of problems I have in recording.

I knew it was you. I was just kiddin', man! And BTW, it sounded pretty good! If you update it and want a new file posted, I'll try to get to it before Halloween.

I was just kiddin too, it wasn't me... it was Roy's redneck cousin Denny Ray.:D

If I had a way to easily get it from the recorder to the pc in stereo I would take you up on posting a new file... it 'is' a totally different monster in stereo ... but, I'm not going to have time to mess with it.  Thanks for the offer anyway!

Okay, I've quoted you, and myself... I think I 'can' get it done in stereo.  I just noticed that some of the background voices were missing and checked my cord... :? it was plugged into the left channel of the monitor out!!! :X  I'll give it a shot tomorrow and get it to you if I get it fixed up.

That came out really well, Dennis! Love the effects in the background. So what is the true story behind it?

Hey I can quote , naw  , Dennis that was great having Denny Ray doing it he he ! My suggestiong  for getting it into the pc straight away is  get over to guitar center or best buy, and buy a sound card for the pc with the right in/out's and and that should do it . Can't wait to hear it in stereo.

Great job Denny Ray did on that vocal. Very Vincent Pricey.

I'm for knowing what the story details are too. What weapon did he have, or even worse use?

Thanks Owen, here's the story and it will repeat itself on halloween!  The ghost is a kid wearing a ghost costume on halloween going door to door scaring people when they see him  he or she is delighted when the person pretends to be really scared and gives up the candy :)

Me neither!!!! LOL

Very nice Dennis!  Neat Halloween poem you got there!  And you've topped it off nicely with some eerie spooky music, a deep-throated scary voice reciting it and some really cool background sound effects!  But after reading and listening I have a favor to ask of you....please don't come knocking at my door this Halloween!!!!! :)  hehe

Hey Art, I definately need a quality sound card, and speakers also, but, baby needs new shoes so Daddy will have to wait... I'm working today but when I get a chance I'm going to try to do it left channel from the multitracker to one track on Audacity, and then right channel on another track on audacity... then align the tracks and it should come out in stereo.

Hey Red, thanks!  If I were to play it on the front porch I'd have to put ear plugs in... I can't listen to that crap! :D

Yep, thats me doin the noises and it would be funny as heck to hear it without the effects... it sounds so goofy that even I would be embarrassed for anyone to hear it!

Denny Ray thanks you, Curtis, but he aint no Vincent Price and never will be.  The weapon came from seeing kids trick or treat and carrying the toy light sabers no matter what costume they had on... and if you didn't catch the explanation I gave to Owen in an above post, the story is about a kid dressed up as a ghost and out trick or treating on halloween.  The fear he saw in people was pretend of course, but the kid was living the scene described in the poem.  He may be coming to pay you a visit soooooooooooooon!!!!

Thanks, Kevin!  You're just to cheap to buy any candy to give away and you're playing the fear card to get out of it... I know your type! :X

Another tightwad huh?  (see reply to Kevin)

Thanks, Sara, I haven't written a poem since my school days, but I was trying to think of something to do for halloween and this is what I came up with.  Don't worry, I won't be coming to your door... but just remember, it's Denny Ray that you need to worry about and I can't control him... that monkey's got a mind of his own!!!   :)
