COUNTRY MIND GOSPEL HEART
My mind is always in the country,
But I've got a gospel heart
That's why when I go to write a song
I don't know where to start
My mind says climb the mountain heights
Climb higher than the trees
My heart says thank you lord for making them
And fall down on my knees
chorus
Yes my mind is in the country
There's gospel in my heart
But I'm convinced that my lord Jesus
Won't keep them long apart
My mind calls from the forest
Look at this lovely stream
My heart cries out such beauty Lord
I must be in a dream
My mind goes to flowered meadows
And birdsong in the spring
My heart goes soaring past these
It's into honoring the king
chorus
Yes my mind is in the country
There's gospel in my heart
But I'm convinced that my lord Jesus
Won't keep them long apart
My mind sees god's creation
As the ghostly clouds fly by
My heart sees heaven's angels
Way up there in the sky
But when we sing together
Heart and mind do not compare
And We find we have some common ground
When we come to him in prayer
chorus
Yes my mind is in the country
There's gospel in my heart
But I'm convinced that my lord Jesus
Won't keep them long apart.
tag
I'm convinced that my Lord Jesus
Won't keep them long apart
He'll place the gospel in the country
And the country in my heart
outro
Ther'll be gospel in the country
And the country in my heart

John,
This is a truly great work. A very inspirational song. I think it really has a message for all of us.

Thanks Don,I have to tweak it a bit for sure and the rhythm
for the tune is a bit tricky . I'm glad you feel refreshed spiritually and I just know you like the band.LOLOLOL

when I get a studio close by or my friends get theirs so I can make the demos cheaply,I don't have much cash and I have to get a guitar player as well,I live way in the boonies,in Hinton Alberta,However I'm going into the big city Edmonton tomorrow so I'll look for some deals,I can't guarantee anything on the demos but I thought you guys would enjoy the lyrics so I posted them Johnny, there are only one or two that I'm going to demo at this time,Jesus and my mind is in the country and there's gospel in my heart, the others are sorta second stream almost good so to speak, there are millions of these around. This is nothing to be mad about I accept my meanderings and second rate stuff as part and parcel of the creative process.Noone can hit a home run everytime, but if we don't keep hitting we will never hit one and one is all it takes,Johnny AIM HIGH!! Johnny, you are always so funny when you respond to others songs, I hate to admit, but I'm suprised to see this side of you. I guess that's what I get for judging prematurely ,lol. I love the song!!

Kim! I am more of a poet than a somgwriter and more of a singer than a musician. This makes me appear a little different here and I suppose my critiques are more as to the sound of the words. However I have read several stories and a book or two of how to write songs and they are all interesting!!! This song came straight to me because i was living just east of the stupendous rocky mountains in Alberta. The area is so beautiful that nature just sings out to you and you can't help but be inspired to write about the country and god is everywhere out there as well. I'm glad you enjoy it and I've got to get writing again. I had such a bummer year for emotions and such. All I could think of was the blues!!!!! Again enjoy and we have to remember that we are all writers and capable of turning out great stuff. Yours Johnny

Johnny, hopefully you know that I didn't mean anything bad by my previous comment, I was just pleasantly suprised. I'm sure it does flow more naturally, when you're in such incredible surroundings. Sometimes those different emotions are what spark creativity. My Dad passed away Nov27th, w/out any notice, at just two days into his 67th year. I still have difficulty accepting this, even though I know that he's in a better place. And if he's not...then Heaven doesn't exist. I know of no better example of one's life to pattern, than that of my Dads. Along w/every other way he contributed to help everyone he could, he never failed to give credit to God for allowing him to be extremely talented, etc. That is a characteristic, that I plan to continue in his place. Good luck and I hope you have a better year! Hope to see more great work soon!
