Holloween
lyrics and music copyight © 2009 Shane Thomson

Sickly Moon hangs low and full
She is yellow with too much candy

She is too weary from going door to door
To line the streets tonight in stellar tinsel

But that's okay we have street lamps
And the passionless glow of pair after pair of headlights

All trees have been replaced by cell phone towers
And where once we held ceremonies we now develop

The circle is drawn the spell is cast
Dim grimy future blurry white past

And darting to and fro by this artificial glow
Lurking, whispering giggling forms both tall and small

Gliding house to house threatening and begging
And they won't rest until their bags are full

Dawn has arrived and the moon sleeps at last
And she dreams of empty bags on the floor cast
And all that we've forgotten

And all we'll never see

Creepy music right from the start and all the way through. Really sets up the lyrics nice. Really liked it, especially the "all that we've forgotten, and all we'll never see" line. Our house is haunted, so I know there are things out there that just can not be explained. I'm sure there are things going on I'm not even aware of, and definatly things I know of I'd like to forget.

Hey Shane,

Good one! This has a haunting sound to it alright. I like what you did with the guitar and effects in the instrumental break towards the end.

Enjoyed it!

Spooky, but very fitting for Halloween.  The music really fits the occasion.  Great song.

Thanks guys.  Glad you liked it.  I lost the project file and I'm currently redoing it with improvements.

Btw Troy, sorry my mp3 file name had spaces in it.  I'll be more careful next time.

Very nice Shane, loved it! I think you nailed the Halloween sound with this one. Liked the change up towards the end too. Particularly liked:

The circle is drawn the spell is cast
Dim grimy future blurry white past

I'm a'scared, I'm a'scared I tells ya!!!!  I wasn't sure what to expect when this one first started up, but it was pretty darn good.  I love holloween and spooks and such.  My favorite song is "Ghost Hunters" with the guy's from TAPS.  On every night at 10:00 and you'll find me in the basement watching it while I mix a tune or two during the commercials.

Anyway, all said, enjoyed the tune!

James.

"I really dig this in a Jethro Tull meets 1960's English spy movie meets Rocky Horror Picture Show kind of a way."

Never thought of it way:D

I'm glad y'all are likin' the lyrics.   I really was going for subtleness.  I tried to avoid Halloween cliches' where I could.

"Our house is haunted, so I know there are things out there that just can not be explained."

Haunted eh?  Interesting.  I've never experienced any paranormal occurrences but the idea intrigues me.

I used to watch Ghost Hunters and Most Haunted religulously (not a misspelling but a combo of religiously and ridiculously) but between the fakeness, the bad camera work and the team members freaking out over stuff the viewers can't see I gave it up.  It would be interesting to take part in an investigation led by pros and not plumbers :D

Paranormal State still scares me so I still watch it.

LOL, I actually watch it mainly for the way Steve (the tech guy) pokes fun at Tango.  Some of the things he says to him in such a casual way is flipping funny.  It cracks me up.
