I came to your church
And felt all alone
Sat in your pews
Wished I was home

Filled out your forms
Like you asked me to
Said I needed help
You never came through

Why should I come?
What makes you so different?
I needed a friend
But you are so distant
Gathered in cliques ...
You're all looking away
If this is salvation
I don’t want to be saved

Not pointing fingers
But where is this Christ?
I've been lookin around
But he's nowhere in sight

So I guess I'll go
This can't be the way
I thought to ask
But you'd just push me away

Why should I come?
What makes you so different?
I needed a friend
But you are so distant
Gathered in cliques ...
You're all looking away
If this is salvation
I don’t want to be saved

I was looking for love
I was looking for hope

Why can't our arms reach
Past our social needs
There are people out there
We can reach

Why should I come?
What makes you so different?
I needed a friend
But you are so distant
Gathered in cliques ...
You're all looking away
If this is salvation
I don’t want to be saved

Tom, great message, mostly great words.  Not sure I like the style for it or the arrangement.  Verse works for me, but I got lost.  Not in the story, but it's a bit of a rocky roller-coaster following it music-wise.  But I love what you have to work with here.  I think the chorus starts out strong, but then descends instead of ascends.  My only other thought is the one line, 'but you'd push me away.'  Presumptive.  I'd suggest, '

I wanted to ask
But I felt out of place
So I guess I'll go
While I still have a little faith

Something like that.  All the best.

More good thoughts.. THanks.. as for the style I often try not to make every sad song sound sad.. It is intentional. Lots of bands do the same thing. I find in these forums that if it is a sad song everyone wants Minor keys I just want to be a bit different..

I do appreciate your ideas..

Thanks again

Tom, Don't know exactly how I feel about this one.  The message comes across as highly negative toward the church.  It's enough to turn the hearts of less mature people against the congregations. IMHO :(  I don't know if that's what you intended to do with this lyric, I hope not.  The real message that is needed is one of encouragement and hope, and building up of the love of God.  You can gather more bees with Honey than you can with salt water and the result is more and happier and more productive bees.  Just a thought from a fellow friend in Christ. :)

Hi Terry, this is intended to be a wake up call to all Christians who stay in their cliques and don't open up to newbies. I have heard countles tales of discoruagement and dissapointment. I am included in the mix, though it was  a long time ago.

I appreciate you thoughts and man I have been Hammered on this one from the get go but the situations are real and happen so I thought I would tell about it.

LOL I have happy songs too but this one is just my way of saying to some folks WAKE UP souls get lost inbetween talk of Football and Gossip

Thanks again Brother Terry for your thoughts
