Peterbilts and Pontiacs

I learned how to drive in the streets of Sun Valley

Most of them were dirt no bigger than an alley

In a 57 Chieftan good ol' Pontiac power

Mom fighting to keep me under fifty miles an hour

Got my licence and ran a muck

Landed behind the wheel of a big old truck

Mom wanted a doctor and I still carry the guilt

But I just couldn't resist that Peterbilt

(CHORUS)

Don't care if it's a G.T.O. or a three seventy nine

Give me a good horse and I'll be there on time

The gates of heaven or hell and back

Just saddle me up in a Peterbilt or a Pontiac

Made a lot of left turns when I should have gone right

Lost track of my goals but I never lost sight

Of that broken white line we toe so religiously

And the responsibility of being free

(BRIDGE)

Peterbilts and Pontiacs

Long and tall laying down a wide track

Chasing the wind

Can't say when I'll be back

But I'll be flying first class

In a Peterbilt or a Pontiac

(REPEAT CHORUS)

Dave,

Great job! Hits home with me....when I was a kid, dad had a Royal blue '59 Pontiac Chief convertible and when he got tired of coughing up coal dust, hedecided to drive a coal truck....not a Pete, but a Mack...lol. Good job buddy! I like it.

hi Dave,

I tracked you down.

Good one! Not quite the "mess of my truck"--more like finding the right road in life on which to drive your Peterbilt ot Pontiac.

Makes me think of a song I wrote about travelin' the wrong roads.

Mai
