                                HIGHER GROUND

Back in the days of Noah---They were merry until that day,

And they never knew what hit 'em 'til a flood took them away;

The time is nigh--It's running out---It's even at our doors,

When the moon is dark and streaming and the sun will shine no more.

(CHORUS)

We're all in this together and nobody wants to die,

Hold on to Jesus---Look up to the most high;

Until our Savoir comes---Keep climbing on higher ground,

Keep climbing up to Jesus---He knows you're homeward bound.

He never left you in good times and he won't leave you in bad,

He's the best friend--tried and true--The best you've ever had;

He'll stand by you or carry you---God said that he'ld stay,

If you try to make it on your own, your prints get washed away.

Get ready now and come along---today without one plea,

Cause you don't know and I don't know when the coming of man might be;

Don't stand alone looking down---down in the sinking sand,

Just lean on  the Rock---he's there for you---ready to take your hand.

Now stars will fall from heaven---- like flares to the sea,

The eagles will gather together ---wherever they need to be;

And all the earth will mourn---These things he will fulfill,

Then heaven and earth will pass away---but his words never will.:(

***THIS SONG WAS PROBABLY ONE OF THE FIRST TO BE WRITTEN BECAUSE OF THE TRADGIC EVENT OF HURRICANE KATRINA.  I HAPPENED TO BE WATCHING CNN WHEN THE LEVEES WERE REPORTED TO BE BROKEN.  THIS SONG WAS COMPLETELY FINISHED IN LESS THAN 30 MINUTES.

Hey Tricia,

Thank you so much.....It is my favorite song that I've written....which is not that many.   I'm not sure how some of these guys write several a day.  I don't think I could if I tried.

Eventually, I will figure out how to look other artists material.  So far, I have been posting and basically responding to replies.

Have a great weekend!           Joyce

Hey Crystal,

You will too...I promise.  You'll be mopping, washing dishes or doing some other boring thing around the house.  Before you know it , you'll the whole song trying to write as fast as you can.  I've had three like that so far.  Thanks for the compliment!

Granny,

I do the same thing except mine are not organized that nicely;  I have lines written on loose pieces of paper all stuck in one big folder-----really like a scrap book.  It's a good idea to keep anything you come up that rhymes---that's the kicker.
