Ok, so I have been suffering from lackofmuse disease of late. I decided to just try to write something from some real life experiences I have gone through in recent history. I have a melody in my head, a sort of upbeat country feel to it. Maybe I can work some bugs out, and post something a capella for the Friday Night Open Mic thing.

Life is good

Girl I took you out fishing

in my half broke boat

we had water up past our ankles

but the thing would still float

them fish they were a biting

and the cooler was full of beer

guess looking back at it now

it’s a wonder that we’re still here

Life is good good good

It can never be bad

it might turn out to be the best memory

that we’ll ever have

one day we’ll look back and laugh

about all the times we’ve had

and know our lifes been good so good

and it was never that bad

Like when we got caught in the pouring rain

and hid under that oak tree

girl you should have seen the look on your face

when that ol’ lightning hit me

Life is good good good

It can never be bad

it might turn out to be the best memory

that we’ll ever have

one day we’ll look back and laugh

about all the times we’ve had

and know our lifes been good so good

and it was never that bad

Life will throw things in our path while we travel through this world

just remember our plan baby I’m your man and you’ll always be my girl

Yeah

Life is good good good

It can never be bad

it might turn out to be the best memory

that we’ll ever have

one day we’ll look back and laugh

about all the times we’ve had

and know our lifes been good so good

and nothings ever that bad

Barry: wow what a nice upbeat piece! I've noticed lately there were quite a few lyrics posted on the forum that seemed to reflect a great deal of bitterness, resentment, hurts from the past, etc... and it's so terrific to see a positive song like that!... it's simple but very powerful... reminding us that life is the way we choose to see it... you really are a master of imagery, Barry! And you prove it with every line you write! Way to go, brother!:)

I really like this, Barry!!  It will turn out wonderful.  Should he have been hit by lightening?  Ha!  I can imagine the look on her face...  Ha!

I'm not sure if I deserved to be hit or not but it happened. Like I said I was trying to write from real life experiences from recent history.

ooo my!!!  I thought you tried to spice it up with a bit of fiction!!!  What happened when it hit you?  Did it hurt? Did it burn your clothes and shoes?  Tell me about that!!!

It went in through my right arm, and came out on my left calf. Yeah it did hurt but not for long. And for about two weeks my tounge was completley black. Must of went in there too eh? LOL It knocked me back about 20 feet and right on my a@#, but afterwords I was just ral tired for a few days, kind of felt drained. I got up and laughed, said damn can you believe that just happened?

Thanks Vlad, that's real nice of you to say. I'm not sure I agree with your take on my ability, as I'm still fairly green at this writing thing, but it means a lot to me coming from you,  Glad you like it.

Fun song! I could hear this with some simple guitar and possibly a fiddle for accompaniment. Look forward to hearing the melody. Nothing beats real life for inspiration!

Thanks Tom, I'm still messing around with the melody, kind of letting the words dictate how it's sung, and still changing some things around a bit. I tried to record it last night, but there seems to be something wrong with my mic set up, so we'll see. I'm trying to work it out for the friday night open mic thing. Thanks again for taking the time to post.

New chorus

Our life has been so good
It ain't never that bad
these might turn out to be
the best memories
that we’ll ever have
one day we'll look - back - and laugh
about all the times we’ve had
and know we wouldn't change it if we could
cause it was never ever that bad

LOL OK Rob here we go again...........

I've been called worse by better folks
and thrown out of nicer places that this
so before you and your buddys throw
Mr. let me tell you this.........

Then go on to tell them something about your life......... Crazy stuff, like you've smoked with Willie, pissed in both oceans every year of your life, since you were 12 years old when you hot the road with some hobo friends you met, how you've been a rodeo cowboy, a clown, and a carny, wore the uniform with pride even though you were drafted, etc.......and never once have you ever backed down from a fight when you knew you were right.....

Just some thoughts..........what say you?
Is there a song in there somewhere, ot LOL is it a short story?
