This is another oldie that I don't think I ever posted on here. It was another one that was signed by a publisher but he was unable to get it recorded.  Crystal said she wanted to sing it but it would help if Danny could give her the chords on this one also, so here it is Danny if you can help her out.

A Broken Promised Land
By Roy Harris, Greg White and Frank Pryor
Vocal: Greg White

When I was growing up
I was taught The Golden Rule
We pledged our allegiance
Every day at school

Now people they tell us
What we say is wrong
We can’t say we’re under God now
Cause we’ve been away too long

Our kids can’t pray in school
We can’t pray at football games
I can’t bow my head in prayer
So I hang it down in shame

Chorus
When a nation turns from God
(It will surely fall)
His love will lead us home
(The Bible tells it all)
He’s the One who blessed this land
(With God I’ll take a stand)
We would not be here today
If we weren’t in His hands

It hasn’t been that long ago
On a clear September day
When our world was turned upside down
And we joined out hands to pray

I thought that day had brought us back
To united we stand
But time has passed and all that’s left
Is a broken promised land.

Repeat chorus

Tag
We would not be here today
If we weren't in His hands

I have heard this one before, Roy, got yourself another winner!!  Beautiful write, great message with awesome lines.  Someday, if I work real hard, maybe I'll write something almost as beautiful as you do.

Brenda, I feel the same way you do about Roy's stuff.  He's a cut above me for sure.

Roy, I'm on this.  Give me a day or two as things are a bit more hectic now than they were before.
