Wrote this to music but the song was never sung to my knowledge. CMA

Take It On The Road

(Guitar intro)

Verse 1:
Take it on the road
Take those three guitars, boy
Pack up all this gear, man
Gotta lot to load
Cranking up the big bus
Gonna take it far
Gonna give ‘em blues
Down in old St. Lou
Take it on the road

Verse 2:
Take it on the road
Now we’re on a roll
Gotta dozen songs now
Give ‘em a good show
Gotta keep our chin up
Touring take its toll
Hello Baton Rogue
Things are goin’ smooth
Take it on the road

Chorus:
Damn, see that dark-haired cowgirl
She’s got eyes for me
Hey, we ain’t stackin’ Jacksons
Dancing is for free
Bends and slides and pull-offs
And riffs that overload
Plow those skins and hit them kicks
Boy don’t play it slow
Keep a steady beat
Take it on the road

Verse 3:
Take it on the road
Next stop Tallahassee
Playin’ on a boat, man
It’s the motherload
Folks are full of Franklins
Lotta stuff for free
We’ll show ‘em some licks
And some other tricks
Take it on the road

Chorus:
Damn, see that dark-haired cowgirl
She’s got eyes for me
Hey, we ain’t stackin’ Jacksons
Dancing is for free
Bends and slides and pull-offs
And riffs that overload
Plow those skins and hit them kicks
Boy don’t play it slow
Keep a steady beat
Take it on the road

(Guitar riff)

Chorus:
Damn, see that dark-haired cowgirl
She’s got eyes for me
Hey, we ain’t stackin’ Jacksons
Dancing is for free
Bends and slides and pull-offs
And riffs that overload
Plow those skins and hit them kicks
Boy don’t play it slow
Keep a steady beat
Take it on the road

(Outro riff)

Well I'd sure like to hear it!

Your writing is always top notch CMA, for real, but in this case... I think the subject is too generic, overdone...

Perhaps if you narrow it down to something like "Burning In The Bayou"... Gator-skin boots... Voodoo... Making rock-n-roll with washboards and spoons :)

Thanks for your review, JAPOV... Because of the collaborative process I had to incorporate ideas and certain lines in the lyric to meant the requests of the composer. If I were to do it without requisites it woulda turned out different. There was no discussion of gator-skin boots, Voodoo or washboards and spoons. Sorry.

I really like how you reference a different city in each verse it is like we are traveling through the song.

"She’s got eyes for me
Hey, we ain’t stackin’ Jacksons
Dancing is for free"
-Haha I like this. It has a lot of swagger. Kind of reminds me of Walker Hayes's You Broke Up With Me.

Also, I like that you said dark haired cowgirl. Sometimes I feel like country only likes blondes. Especially today.

Thanks, Taylor... I enjoy writing traveling songs. Yea, most cowgirl’s hair is dark, so I’m covering a lot of ground. Glad you like it!
