Wrote this on my drive to work this morning and posted it to a country page. With an hour or two I had a lady who is personal friends with a fairly well known artist ask if I would send her a copy so she could forward it to him. Gonna keep my fingers crossed! Funny part is, though I like it, I think I have others that are much better... Maybe I don’t?
Even A Rich Man
Do your kids wear a smile
Is there food upon their plate
Be grateful for the little things
That sometimes pass your way
Did you get the chance to love
In this world so full of hate
If so count your blessings
Here's some words to contemplate
CHORUS
Even a rich man
Can die poor
Without a hand to hold
When he finds deaths door
I'd rather walk alone
Till my final day
Then find a hand to hold
That sends me on my way
I've chased dollars at a cost
So high I can't explain
Yet it really got me nowhere
In exchange
CHORUS
Bridge
Some blessings aren't apparent
Till we're about to close our eyes
Maybe then we'll see that we held...paradise
CHORUS
Yes even a rich man

Best of luck Mike! Sometimes it's just being in the right place at the right time. Hope this is one such occasion.
I don't think this is the very best song you've written, but it's good, and if it's one that catches the right eye then so much the better! I guess that's the benefit of writing consistently good songs - whichever one the right someone sees is going to impress.

Thanks Owen! I’m not expecting much, but a possible foot in the door never hurts.

I think it's really good. What you've done in a short time is impressive. If you add 4 bars to your 2nd verse, you could get it up to around 3 minutes and cap it off

Thanks John. I had considered that as well. I will see if I get any response.

Thanks all. Not gonna hold my breath, but just to have gained the possibility is cool.

I think it's pretty good but that message might be your big ticket. Good luck and I wish you the best

This is good, Mike... I really love the theme. Hopefully it’ll work out for you. Good luck.

Simple song about appreciation I really do like it
Easy to follow and understand which I like in a song
As far as personal tastes
I've chased dollars at a cost
So high I can't explain
Yet it really got me nowhere
In exchange
I've chased dollars at a cost
So high I can't explain
Yet it really got me nowhere
Just a pocket full of change
I just felt that when you were talking 'money" in his verse ( Dollars and Costs) that it fit better- either way I like the appreciation for what us poor folks enjoy
