I originally envisioned this song to be like an epic Enya-like ballad, but I don't have the voice or production ability to get anywhere near where I want it to be. After many musical dead ends, I had an epiphany that this would make a great reggae song. I think the lyrics are the best part.

We Belong to The Wind

We belong to the wind
And just like steel turns to rust
Our next journey begins
After bones turn to dust
Here, I live inside you
And you, under my skin
I will be beside you
Floating in the wind
Where we'll finally be free

We belong to the stars
Not the crust of this earth
All the future is ours
For I believe in rebirth
That my love can find you
Beyond the light years far
And I’ll be right behind you
Travelling through the stars
And we'll finally be free

We belong to the wind
Where we’ll finally be free
Together we’ve always been
And what’s been always will be
Here, I live inside you
And you, under my skin
I will be beside you
Floating in the wind
Where we'll finally be free

Kudos for being willing to re-imagine a song after it's written. Not many are willing or able to do that.

This is very different to the prev version!

Personally, I prefer the first version but that's just me!

Thanks so much for listening. When I have an alto with a crystalline voice, I will revisit the epic ballad form that I originally envisioned for this song.

I felt some gratification that my daughter said that this was her favorite song of mine. She thought the soft version was a bit insipid.

Thank you so much. To be fair, RainyDayMan hadn't heard some of the improvements I made and newly uploaded to Soundcloud - vocal punch-ins and remixing.

Wow! I like the reggae mix, but my favorite remains the New Age Enya-ish version, largely because I love the New Age genre more. But great work! You have major skills and loads of talent. I'm envious of your mixing ability. Crystal clear sound! :)

I put the soft new age version back on my Soundcloud, and I'll work on making improvements.

I'm heartened that people enjoyed either version of this song.

The reggae version is fun, but I too prefer the first version. It has a broadway feel to it. It is beautiful and emotional. You could find someone to sing it the way you imagine, and you will love it as much as we do :)

I think this is really clever. I would prefer to have some by way of real instruments...bass guitar rather than synth and perhaps a rhythm guitar, but maybe that's me being old fashioned. The vocals certainly are good. well done...I enjoyed this. :)

I never heard the previous version but this reggae version makes me feel like I'm having a drink with an umbrella in it.

My goal was for the listener to feel like the umbrella in the drink, not the drinker. So I'll have to try harder.

I like the upbeat lightness of this song. It reminds me of the theme from the greatest American hero for some reason. It's got a lot of charm and a sailing quality where you want to take the ride. Thank you for the fun escape!
