First Class Western Suit

I was the toughest there was
Unlike today
Where it's hear say
I was the meanest of the brutes
and proved it too
If I was pissed off somebody paid

I walked with spurs
You'd hear the clangs
It cost me a few times
Because they chimed
But I survived all the same

(Chorus)

They tell I'm too old
To put on my saved gear
Just the brought me to tears
I think I'm going to forget about age
And relive my younger days
I'll find a western store somewhere

I'll get some wrangler jeans
And some new cowboy boots
But I won't get my shirts off the rack
I'll drive around town
Up the street and back down
Until I find a new cowboy hat

(Chorus)

If my granddaughtes ask
About my days long gone
This is what I want passed on

There's something about boot leather
With jeans they go together
With a fitted shirt and cowboy hat
You can disagree if you want too
If I didn't convince you
We'll just leave it like that

(End)

---------Chorus
I was a he'll raiser
I drank whiskey chasers
I wore pressed wrangler jeans
I wore cowboy boots
Fitted shirts too
Hell, with the belt
It was a first class western suit

There's something about boot leather
With jeans they go together
With a fitted shirt and cowboy hat
You can disagree if you want too
If I didn't convince you
We'll just leave it like that

John, did you mean 'suit' or 'suite' there?
Suit is the formal clothing, Suite is a set or ensemble.
Either could work. I ask because in Australia 'suite' would be pronounced 'sweet' - though that may not be true elsewhere. But it looked like you were going for the rhyme with 'boot'.

I like the feel of this. Has energy to it. I'm imagining some boot-scootin' music accompanying it.

Not sure about v1, doesn't feel like there is a lot happening there, but that could be just me.

I do like the idea of growing old disgracefully and wanting to keep on wearing those clothes. And passing the idea on to the next generation.

My fav lines were:
I was a hell raiser
I drank whiskey chasers
I wore pressed wrangler jeans

Yes, I did mean suit. And agree that the first verse is very week. Hey, that gives me something to do tonight. Check in tomorrow and I'll have it jumping.

Thanks again...
