This is an old one I started to rework today.
So far so good and I thought I might post it here so that you guys could give me some feedback.
In case you know who exactly I’m talking about....be the First to post it below and you are having the chance to win an inflatable dryer! 😅

King of the swans

In a time so full of changes. A‘
Your royal blood won’t let you flee
It was on you to wear the crown
And to fulfill your destiny
But what went on inside of you?
Behind your shy and bashful smile
In your reserved romantic soul
Hiding from this world in exile

Majesty-king of the swans. B
Built your dreams out of stone
Majesty-king of the swans
What’s left are many empty rooms
Majesty-king of the swans
Built your dreams out of stone
Castles with an empty throne
Couldn’t face this world alone

Searching for people just like you. A+
For those who really understand
That a king is also human
Who surely needs love and a friend
I can sense your fragile spirit
Strumbling around the endless halls
Through all the splendor and the pomp
Your voice still echoes from the walls

Majesty-king of the swans. B
Built your dreams out of stone
Majesty-king of the swans
What’s left are many empty rooms
Majesty-king of the swans
Built your dreams out of stone
Castles with an empty throne
Couldn’t face this world alone

Sometimes I’d like to follow you. C
Into your world of dreams
Sometimes I’d like to talk to you
And free you from your pain
Sometimes I’d like to follow you
To meet Parcival who found the Grail
Sometimes I’d like to talk to you
And show you that your wish for love was everything
But not insane

Majesty-king of the swans. B
Built your dreams out of stone
Majesty-king of the swans
What’s left are many empty rooms
Majesty-king of the swans
Built your dreams out of stone
Castles with an empty throne
Couldn’t face this world alone

I can sense your fragile spirit A*
Strumbling around the endless halls
Through all the splendor and the pomp
Your voice still echoes from the walls

I don't know who it's about, but I like it.

In part C, I like how you vary the lines:
Sometimes I'd like to follow you...
Sometimes I'd like to talk to you...
you could go even further and make all four different.

"King of the swans" is very evocative! Is that historical or did you create that?

Oh Owen....
That is not that simple to explain...

On the one hand...there is a German song called „Schwanenkönig“ (king of swans) by an East German pop/rock group. One of the best east Germany had! I didn’t knew their song but in the late 90ies my father was a fan of a Austrian „Volksmusic/rock-group“ that covered this old song. And that’s when I heared it for the first time. It is a very beautiful ballad about a real swan at the end of his days
„when a swan sings, all the animals are silent. When a swan sings, all animals are listening. And they murmur to each other, murmur to each other: it is a king of the swans, who is dying in love“ (chorus translated)
So I must have had that somewhere in my mind while writing this.

On the other hand...the historical person I wrote this about had always a connection to those animals. I remember in one of his castles (I took part in the tour at least 15 times) that there are large images and figures of the swans and he himself...was really a „swan“-character. Beautiful but very shy and reserved unhappy with this world and very lonely while he was loved by so many. Some kind of untouchable but only on the search for love. And because he has probably been homosexual it was even more a burden for him.

So I get it was it all together combined with a third part....one of his castles is named after a swan...that made me come up with it.
I am very much into these ppl of the so called „Fin de Siècle“ (end of the circle) time period and somehow I feel a connection to myself.
Even if it seems not to be the best thing for my own health....

This is awesome! I love it all. My favorite part is the chorus. It feels pretty long, do you have music in mind?

Thanx ma’am! Glad that you like it. Yes I do know how the chorus will sound like.
