Here's something a little different than what I normally do.

Let me know what you think. Hope you all are safe and healthy.

Move On
Words and Music by
Patty LaKamp and Dominick B. Giarraputo

V1
Gotta be cool, gotta be slick
Gotta learn how to take your licks
(And) move on, move on

V2
Ya might be wrong, ya might be right
Gotta know when to pick your fight
Or move on, move on

V3
Win the battle, or win the war
Pick the one that matters more
And move on, move on

V4
Take a stand if you really care
Let it ride if nothing’s there
And move on, move on

A really nice track. A bit different from what I've come to expect from you. More 1970's I think. Nothing wrong with that of course. I can imagine this featuring on a TV show from that period. A good, melodic vocal and an interesting variation of solo instruments. Yeah, I really like this - well done I say!:)

Solid groove! Easy to get into that.

The "move on, move on" works for me as a hook.

You might try some backing vocals on the 2nd "move on" in verses 3&4

I'd like to see a middle 8 or similar in there with a completely different sound for contrast. And lyrically maybe that could expound a bit on what moving on means for this person.

I preferred the guitar solo to the sax(?). Or maybe "dirty up" the sax?

But overall, very easy to listen to, and enjoy.

Very nice. I like the smooth sound here. I liked both the guitar and the sax. I could see this for TV too.

It's got a good feel to it, and quite different to some your other stuff I've heard recently.

For me this is an easy listen rather than an engaging listen, I think because the 'groove' just repeats almost all the way through.
Absolutely fine if this is what you intended, but hopefully constructive if not.

Thanks for sharing it and we'll done.

Thanks Chris, RDM, Andrea, and ASM,

thanks for the kind comments. yeah it's a bit Alan Parson's I think.
I was trying for something simple and out of the box for me and wanted to keep the lyrics to a minimum. I figured that if the no lyrics thing worked well for "Carefree Day" then I thought keeping them simple might work for this one too.

The music track started out as more of an experiment than anything and I really didn't have an plans for it but after messing about with it for a while I started getting ideas to fill in the blanks so I went ahead and worked it up into a full song.

I did think about some kind of harmonies but decided against it since I didn't want to make it sound to complicated and overdone and ruin the mood I was trying for....if that makes any sense!

Thanks again and hope you all are safe and well!

Really clean recording and beautiful layering. The bass line anchors it well. I think it really comes together just after the first verse.

Your vocal reminds me of Paul Simon, which I assume you'll take as a compliment ;-)
