Christian parody of Heart Like Mine. Just so you know
I ain’t the kind to sit on the front pew
And you won’t hear me say “Amen”
Somehow I always feel closer
When I’m out on Walden’s Ridge
Although I was slow to ‘get it’
He gets me ; I’ve no regrets
When His Spirit leads I let it
Tunes my heart strings to His frets
Like Him I reach out to others
If You know they’re hurting just be kind
He could calm the storm and heal the blind
Imagine what He’s done with a heart like mine
Daddy cried when I came to Jesus
Said he’d prayed most ev’ry day
Said my heart just needed tuning
I just grinned. What could I say?
Like Him I reach out to others
If You know they’re hurting just be kind
He could calm the storm and heal the blind
Imagine what He’s done with a heart like mine

I like "a heart like mine". It made me smile.
The only lines I got caught on were the first 2 in this verse. They don't seem to connect smoothly from the previous verse. The idea is good - here is an idea I had. I was a little unsure of the rhyme scheme.
Like Him I reach out to others - now I try to be like Him
If You know they’re hurting just be kind - follow in his teachings and his guidelines
He could calm the storm and heal the blind
Imagine what He’s done with a heart like mine
