Here is the accompaniment track to write to. Song structure listed below.
https://soundcloud.com/user-426611522/instrumental-pre-apocalyptic-theme
Free to listen, share and download.

There is no monetary reward associated with this contest. The track will not be for sale.
The purpose of the contest is to give an opportunity to the many fine lyric writers here
who are unable to get their song lyrics into the recording medium.
However, anyone can participate and anyone can win.
I only ask that when the polling happens, vote for someone besides yourself.

Start your own topic if you want feedback before your final submission here.

Song structure: Intro/5 verses/5 choruses
Intro - 6 bars
Verse - 8 bars
Chorus - 8 bars
After the intro the song alternates verse/chorus/verse/chorus 5 times (no ending)
The last chorus could be designated as the ending. Use the space as you see fit.
Note: verse and chorus are interchangeable.

Polling will begin after the June 15th, 2020 submission deadline.
Polling will end the following Monday, June 22nd, 2020

Judging criteria:
1) How well do the lyrics fit the track?
2) How well is the theme developed?
3) How original and creative are the lyrics?
4) Are the lyrics thought-provoking and memorable?
5) Grammatical accuracy. Correct spelling and word use?

Theme:
I recorded the track with a pre-apocalyptic theme in mind. (due to current events)
You are not required to follow that theme. Choose your own theme if you want.

Submission deadline: Monday June 15th, 2020
Polling deadline: Monday, June 22nd, 2020

Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks.

Fantastic! Sketch, how do people submit their entry? Is it by posting their lyric below? Or sending it to you?

Great question. Thanks.
They should post ONLY their final submission below on this topic.
If they want feedback on their work in progress, they should use their own topic for that.

Sorry about that.
Looks like I lost a return space in the post text that goofed up the link.
This one should work if I didn't fix the other one yet.

That's some cool music Sketch. Very different.
The percussion sounds killer. I like how you have different tracks panned to the left and right.
The whole thing has a Beatles vibe, kind of like Tomorrow Never Knows.
I've enjoyed watching the evolution of your music, and where it's going.

Thanks, Sam.
Imagine how awesome this is going to sound with lyrics.
And the winner of the contest (decided by reader poll) will have a recording
with their lyrics in it. And the lyric-writing credit, of course.
Void where prohibited by law. - lol

Yes, I would definitely recommend the movie. Good for the whole family. As long as they are old enough to be okay with the fighting violence.

I also look forward to your lyric submission for the song.

Anticipating
So frustrating
Can't you hear me
I can't be the only one
*** ***
Like a mirror
It's getting clearer
Can't you see me
I can't be the only one
*** ***
There's no mistake
It's not too late
You must believe me
I can't be the only one
*** ***
Reality
It's prophecy
Don't discard me
I can't be the only one
*** ***
No excuse
Time to choose
Don't you know me
I can't be the only one

***Ignore the signs
Regrettable
The end of time
Inevitable***

For me I find the music too fully realized to help you with any lyrics plus maybe your judging criteria is a little harsh (grammatical accuracy, huh?). Anyways maybe you'll get a few more entries. Good luck.

Guess I'll go with this:

First Encounter

V1
Lights in the sky
What's that flying?
Looping, diving
Can't believe my eyes

Ch1
First Encounter
Fear and Wonder
Come together
Or tear asunder

V2
cloaked in darkness
I take cover
Watch it hover
Before it touches down

Ch1
First Encounter
Fear and Wonder
Come together
Or tear asunder

V3
Hold my breath
As doorways bend
Bridges descend
Creatures step into the night

Ch1
First Encounter
Fear and Wonder
Come together
Or tear asunder

V4
I hear them chatter
High pitched clicking
Communicating
Hairs on my neck arise

Ch1
First Encounter
Fear and Wonder
Come together
Or tear asunder

V5
Eyes like a cat
Reflect the light
Teeth made to rip and bite
These hunters are here for prey

Ch5
Alien army
First encounter
Human slaughter
Earth will never be the same
