Every mother loves and every father hopes
The future will surpass yesterday's glory
But hope will never wait for time to stand still
You have to make this moment your story

Don't hesitate, procrastinate
You can't delay
You're fate's appointment, seize the moment
Don't let it slip away

Make the change
Be the ones who live the dream
Don't be afraid
The world is smaller than it seems
Seize the day
Don't be a slave to the machine
Make the change

All of us were born to learn from our mistakes
But nature lends itself to complacency
Own the wisdom of these past generations
No excuses will correct the urgency

Hi JAPOV... I like this! The music has a kinda Soundgarden sound to it. The message is excellent. My only suggestion is, since it’s a positive theme, to pick up the beat a little making it more jazzy. But overall, good job!

Charles

Right. It's not easy to play that slowly. - lol

Makes it more bluesy and soulful.

I like the circular pattern you used for the song parts as it progresses.
You got a lot of mileage out of a few lyrics. Much preferred to a long page full.

Did you edit down from a page full? Or was that "all he wrote"? - lol

I actually owe most of the credit for the pre-chorus to Carroll Kiphen, a writer @ http://songwriterjunction.com lol...

Yea, some of the guitar was actually difficult not to rush (don't listen too closely) but it just felt right singing :)

Thanks for dropping in!

That joint asked me to logon repeatedly.I did, and still cannot post. What's up with that?

And hello Japov---I remember you turned in a great alternate lyric to a song I was struggling with...

Hey there Joel! :)
That's part of Gavin's security over there lol... It takes a day before you can post because he actually checks out who you are. Keeps the Chinese, Indian, and Arab "SPAM" off the site! Good to see you!

Tuning in a little late. I can appreciate that playing slow is difficult. On the other hand, I must agree with Charles. The words and message have that uplifting spirit to them. I wanted to the music give me that same feeling.

I know everyone is right about that lol... Just a little increase in tempo with a little swing does make a huge difference! I'm currently in the process of re-mastering / re-vamping my last 10 songs to submit to AMUSE as my 3rd album. Sure wish I could find more collaborators :)

very nice song,
I love the organ gives more fullness to the arrangement.
It is slow, right. For me it is nice so slow, creates something original.
When we switch on the radio we don't understand when a song has ended and the new one has started such is the homogenization today!!!! Songwriting rules....

Rules, rules, rules lol, I know what you mean... However, this one even puts me to sleep!

I'm just a typical old blues player, I really can't help myself. I'd welcome any ideas for a re-vamp! :)

I'm just hearing this one -- I wasn't on the forum back when you initially posted it. I like your style and your mixing skills. You achieve great seperation among the instruments and capture a crystal clear sound. Regarding the song itself, I like it, and your performance is solid! :D

Thanks, I appreciate that Icy! In the last three years I've graduated from Garage Band to LogicX Pro... It has been a learning experience but, honestly, I know there's still plenty of room for improvement.

Hit me up for a collab sometime :)

You're welcome, JAPOV! Regarding a collaboration, I would definitely like that! My writing process is to first conceive of a title and theme, and then work out the chords and melody. I then use ChordPulse to construct the chord structure of the entire song, and then I save several styles of the song to midis. Next, I import all of the midis into Mixcraft Pro 9, and arrange those, and modify some of the midis to serve as fills, etc. I work with that until the music sounds like it sounds in my head. After I'm pleased with the backing track, I write the lyrics. Maybe in a collaboration, you could replace some of the guitar tracks with your great guitar work, and perhaps change some of the other tracks using your LogicX Pro DAW.
I am strongly considering switching from Mixcraft Pro 9 to the latest version of Cubase, which appears awesome! Check this out!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHRa63l6luE

Please note, the link isn't intended as a plug for Cubase. I can't recommend it yet, because I do not own it and have not used it! I just like the tutorial, and the chord tool seems cool. I'm not encouraging anyone to buy it, etc., so I hope my mention of it does not run afoul of posting policies. If so, moderators, please feel free to delete this section, or nudge me, and I'll delete it. Peace! :D

Lol... You're obviously a lot more technically minded than I am. For example, a copy of Cubase came with my Zoom H4Npro but I found it far too complicated to do anything with. Not to mention, my little laptop at the time didn't have the resources to run it lol. I'm very old school... I have lots of old equipment that I just like to plug-n-play. However, I do find midi keys and E-drums very convenient!

What is ChordPlus? That sounds interesting :)

It's actually ChordPulse, and can be found with a Google search. I'm not being a wiseguy... I'm just being careful not to spam the forum. I have no financial intertest in ChordPulse. I'm just a content user for years.

ChordPulse is great for quickly laying out the chord structure of a song and exporting the midis as various styles, which can then be imported into a DAW of your choice. Once the midis of the drums, keys, synths, guitars, percussion are in the DAW, you can easily modify those, and add melodies, change melodies, create fills, etc. The learning curve for ChordPulse is fairly low.

FWIW, you're right about Cubase. I want to learn it, but it will take time. It has a steep learning curve, and is not nearly as intuitive as Mixcraft Pro 9.
