It’s hard sometimes to figure out what the correct genre is. So much depends on the music. CMA

Two Broken Hearts

Verse 1:
It breaks my heart to see our pictures on the wall
And all the times you said you can’t live like this at all
And the times you walked away and the many falls
But I’d give my soul to return to how love was before

Chorus:
You told me I don’t love you anymore
You said that I’m better off without you
You grabbed your keys, headed out the door
But I’m in tears, I cannot live without you
Two broken hearts cannot be the cure

Verse 2:
It takes a lot to wash the mem’ries from your heart
Recall the times we said our love has a special spark
And the times we said we cannot survive apart
But now it seems our love affair has turned into a war

Chorus:
You told me I don’t love you anymore
You said that I’m better off without you
You grabbed your keys, headed out the door
But I’m in tears, I cannot live without you
Two broken hearts cannot be the cure

Bridge:
The walks we took together in the park
The stormy nights that left us in the dark
Playing in the surf, dancing on the beach
The boat we rowed that sunk in the lake
All those joys now seem out of reach
Is our love simply a mistake

Pre-chorus:
I think we know what here is at stake
Two broken hearts may be the final score

Chorus 1:
You told me I don’t love you anymore
You said that I’m better off without you
You grabbed your keys, headed out the door
But I’m in tears, I cannot live without you
Two broken hearts cannot be the cure

Coda:
Two broken hearts that need to find a cure
So we can love like we did before

I like this overall. Only thing I'd say is that I only get the sense of one broken heart here. To make the "Two Broken Hearts" theme work would be great to hear something of the other person's pain as well - though hard to do that from this perspective.

Hey RD Man, I appreciate your review and suggestion. This could easily be a duet.

Yea, RD Man, the duet would need to be figured out by the singers and producer. I think it could come out kinda sweet as a duet, no?

Having them both sing the chorus would be quite poignant.

Hey, RD Man, there are a lot of different ways to do a duet. I’ll let the singers and producer work that one out. I kinda know how I’d do it but I don’t know if that matters. Thanks for your support.

I had the same thought about only one broken heart vs 2. I like the idea of the duet. That would make it even more emotional. I think it could fit country or even soft rock (esp as a duet). I hope to hear it one day soon.

Yea, Andrea, I was thinking of a duet while I was writing it. I’m starting to work with a professional producer/composer and it looks like I’ll be writing lyrics to his musical compositions, but hopefully I’ll be able to eventually work it music written to lyrics. I’ll have to play it by ear... Wish me luck!

Don’t get a feel for why he/she grabbed the keys and headed out the door. I think it needs more to elevate it to special. Duet idea was “special @

Hey, MAS... She needs the keys to start the car. The chorus is an emotional expression reflecting the heart of the situation. A duet would certainly make this ‘special.’ More, I think, would be less.
