Hey all, safe and healthy is the word of the day!

Here's a collab I worked on with Milo and Jeff. Milo supplied the wonderful lyrics and Jeff and I put it to music. Jeff provided a great vocal for this and I did all the instrumentation and backing vocals. I think it turned out well.

So let us know what you think. Lyrics below and also on the SC page.
Thanks for the listen.

Well she ain’t as pretty
And I ain’t too smart
An affair would end in disaster
I turn on my pillow and there you are
You’re the one I promised forever

So why is that girl on my mind?

It’s hard to resist temptation
When a girl has that look in her eye
I admit to a bit of flirtation
Then she asked me to dance for a while
I’m caught in a bad situation
It’s hard to turn down invitations

The memory of that come on
As we lie here starts to fade
Just a fool who ought to know better
The thing I should remember
Is the promise that I made
That you’re the only girl I need forever

So why is that girl on my mind?

It’s hard to resist temptation
When a girl has that look in her eye
I admit to a bit of flirtation
Then she asked me to dance for a while
I’m caught in a bad situation
It’s hard to turn down invitations

She’s waiting for me
To RSVP
I guess I’ll politely decline
She gave me her number
It’s there in my wallet
With a note that says
Call me sometime

(It’s hard to resist temptation
When a girl has that look in her eye
I admit to a bit of flirtation
Then she asked me to dance for a while
I’m caught in a bad situation
It’s hard to turn down invitations

I think you've nailed the country sound in this one.
Good job all round.

It's perfectly fine as is, but there would be an option to swap these two lines if you wanted:
It’s hard to resist temptation
It’s hard to turn down invitations

To echo RDM..the sound is absolutely right. As I said about the last one of these, your friend has a great voice for this kind of music. Your production is spot-on too. Well done!:)

RDM,
Yes, that is a very good suggestion but I do have to defer to Milo on that since he was the lyricist on this one.

Thanks Chris, appreciate the support!

Hey, Moptop... Sounds like you got country down pat. I like it all the way through. I even listened to it twice! Decent production too. Gimme some more.

Charles

My point is that "It’s hard to resist temptation" is COUNTRY to the bone, because much of the "ethos" of Country and Honky Tonk is about that very dichotomy, because of the "Bible Belt Sensibilities" at the bottom of so many county Lyrics.
Good job.

Hey - that's a solidly put-together country pop song. I've got no suggestions - I wouldn't change a thing. I'd like to hear your band (or a band do it live to let the song breath and run, unconstrained from the demo production).

Congrats,
Charles

Love the vocal and the music. Don’t like the way the lyrics end which I guess means I don’t like the title. It’s not country enough. Sorry milo

A good piece of work all around; I really prize that old-school country aesthetic far above the post-Garth Brooks style.

My only issue with it is that the vocal melody seems a little lost. My ear wants to hear the singer start in a different part of the key, and end the verse with a more authoritative resolution.
