Just what is said. Almost every time I post a song on SoundCloud within a few minutes some woman follows me (occasionally a man, but mostly woman). There are usually no new listens to my song when they do and their profile doesn't appear to have any music of their own on it, just a bunch of other music that they liked. Sometimes I'll have the same situation where they like some of my songs, but apparently don't actually listen to them because the song still shows 0 listens. What gives with that? What are they doing? What is their gain?

I think usually they have a replay service they want you to pay for.
Although that typically comes with a message to ask for your business which makes claims about what they can offer you in terms of listens.
But sometimes it is, just "random" women. (and guys)

Yeah, I've definitely gotten those messages. At least I understand what they are trying to do. I had one who commented twice on the same song, just with a different name, but the exact same message. I don't pay for comments or followers... There's plenty of random woman following me already.

I think it's just a "bot" or automated program that automatically sends something to every new song posted. I tried to reply to a couple of them but I never got any kind of acknowledgment or reply. I've even had one of those with an enticing message to go look her porn pictures! She wasn't very cute so I didn't bother!

It's happened to me, and I think you are referring to sex workers who are trying to drum up business. There is more of this going on since the passage of the FOSTA law. (craiglist removed personal ads because of it ). Just report it or flag it.
