Title: Life's Pretty Good (without you)
Track Time: 03:16 / BPM: 105

VS 1
Woke up this morning to a beautiful day
Blue skies and sunshine painted the view
Seemed to be no reason, but I'll have to say
Life's pretty good - without you

CHORUS
Life's pretty good -
Life's pretty good - yes indeed
Life's pretty good - without a doubt
Life's pretty good - without you

VS 2
I used to wake up to a gray cloudy sky
Raining again - will it never stop?
I just couldn't see - the reason why
Always at the bottom - no way to the top

CHORUS

VS 3
Finally got rid of that - ball and chain
Put the rudder back on this boat
Put this thing in gear - before I go insane
Got the 'gators out of my moat

CHORUS

VS 4 (repeat vs 1 with additions)
Woke up this morning to a beautiful day
Life's pretty good - without you
Blue skies and sunshine painted the view
Life's pretty good - without you
Seemed to be no reason, but I'll have to say
Life's pretty good - without you

CHORUS/ENDING

Great song Sketch. I remember when you posted the lyrics for this.
Glad to see you made into a song.
Great playing. Especially the guitars.
Love the tremolo effects.

Loved these lyrics from your earlier post. I just love the hook here!

I like the tune. I might be singing "life pretty good- without you' in my head all night. very nice!

I'd like to hear this one done in more of a Country style.
For me, the guitars are dominating the lyric, and it feels like quite a lyric driven song.

Thanks for the listen and encouraging comments, Sam.

Yes, it's been fun to play with that new tremolo pedal.
Lately I've been placing a single pedal from my pedal board between
my guitar and the Audiobox input. Especially tremolo.
And not for everything, just specific tracks. (to be clear)

Yes, the lyrics, especially the hook, are the BIG deal on this one.
I envisioned it as a foot-stomper/toe-tapper heading down the highway
with windows rolled down, kind of song. And an anthem for those who
have actually DISCOVERED life after release from a negative relationship.

Thanks RDM,

I actually strongly agree with that. I killed a perfectly good Country song by overdoing it.
And country style isn't really my strength. So I tried to steer it in a different direction.
But, ended up with something that is not as strong as it should have been.
Live and learn. Maybe a Country group will pick this up and run with it. ???
That would be very cool.

PS -- I could also put it on my remix list for later.
I just need to pull everything but the vocals down.
And even mute a bunch of parts. Build in more dynamics.

Sketch,
I like the guitars on this. I think it gives it more of a Delta Blues feel than a country vibe.....and great guitar work BTW. Slide is something I've never been able to do at all. I think adding something to the chorus vocal, maybe vocal doubling or triple-ing or close harmonies would help pump it up a bit to have it stand out more.

Over all I think you've got a good one here!

Thanks for sharing.

Yes, the song needs something. I tried to fix it with the mix. Didn't work.
I hate to MUTE good guitar work, but it seems that's what was needed.

And I agree that more vocal work might have helped.
I think I did try a harmony part, but it wasn't working so I did MUTE that.
(or DELETE more likely) - lol

I'm putting the finishing touches on a song with four-part harmony vocals in the chorus.
That was hard for me to pull off. The low part was so LOW. (ouch)

Hey Sketch, okay, so where's this 4 part harmony thing I've been waiting to listen to?...or did I miss it somewhere?
