No Destination in Mind
Copyright © B Williams

As a kid I lived to ride my bike

loved to round up all my friends
we rode eve-ry street in town
and then we rode em all again
spinning around on two wheel crowns
young band of brothers in the
wind

riding to live loving the life
in a game where we all win

It's about being free
no destination in mind
So get them kickstands up
c'mon lets go for a ride

feel that wind in your face
your spirit is your guide
ride with no hesitation
no reservations
and no destination in mind

 We traded in our huffys
and them well worn schwinns
for some pans and shovelheads
learned to love those old v-twins
We're all still living to ride

forever brothers in the wind
and we all try every day
to find that feeling once again.

It's about being free
no destination in mind
So get them kickstands up
c'mon lets all go for a ride

feel that wind in your hair
your spirit is your guide
ride with no hesitation
no reservations
and no destination in mind

The days of youth in our rear views
some are riding with their kids

we're all still here lovin the life
as those wheels turn 'round again

It's about being free
no destination in mind
So get them kickstands up
c'mon lets go for a ride

feel that wind in your hair
your spirit is your guide
ride with no hesitation
no reservations
and no destination in mind

Just living, laughing and loving life
with no destination in mind

Love the mood / feeling in this one. I cant quite pick the rhythm of it though.
Like the bridge, especially:

we're all still here lovin the life
as those wheels turn 'round again

Nice writing Barry!

Hey Red, I like this lyric with the exception of the
bridge. Most bikers I know don't quit riding cuz they get
old so if their kids tell them to ride with them they're
gonna have something smart to say and tell'em
quit calling them old and stay the heck of my bike
as the saying goes, you're never too old to ride.
I'd suggest a re-write of the bridge to fit that
agenda and let the old codgers tell their kids
to kick up their own kickstands. Just a thought
but I would like to hear this to music as I think
it would be a good riding song like Jackson
Browne's "Running on empty" :)

Good luck with it ;)

Thanks for your ifeedback guys. In the bridge I am trying to convey that time has passed and now we ride with our kids, not that we had to, but because they enjoy it as well.

I do however like the idea that maybe a generational rivalry could be there. As is usualy the case, like old school Harleys and new age Buell type bikes. Thanks again for the critiques.

As far as putting it to music, that would be good to hear but this is the limit of my meager musical talents

Red, this is a real, feel good song. It's Retro, and Present flowing together nicely and naturally.  Not trying to be a "Picker of Pizza Lent"  But I would consider making one change in the Bridge.

A life time has come and gone (Our time of Youth) has come and gone
now we're riding with our kids
we're all still here lovin the life

as those wheels turn 'round again

I really like it :D

What a cool change!  Dang boy,  This is a really neat little feel good, riding tune. Want to buy me a bike now more than ever!  Great job Barry, Bro.! :D

"As far as putting it to music, that would be good to hear but this is the limit of my meager musical talents"

I certainly would never consider your talents Meager my friend.
This one shines!  :D  Put to the right arrangement this would make a great video too.

Thanks Terry, I have an idea to change the first 2 lines of the first verse to this...........

As a kid I lived to ride my bike

loved to round up all my friends

as opposed to this.....

I used to live to ride my bike
loved to gather up my friends
we rode eve-ry street in town
and then we rode em all again
spinning around on two wheel crowns
young band of brothers in the wind
riding to live loving the life

in a game where we all win

any thoughts???

That is a more compact way of saying it, and it sets the time frame right away.

Thanks again Terry, made the change above. If ya know of a musician who would like to take this and put music to it have them drop me a line.

Hey you're welcome. IMHO. This song needs to be semi-mellow in places and needs to "Rock" in the Chorus and the Bridge. This is a Biker Song! :D  Needs somebody with more expertise and equip, than I have, But there are people on this site who could do it very well.  I'll do some thinking on this.  :D

Barry,

I have been watching this one evolve and I think you have a done a great job. Terry has also given you some great pointers to tune it up.  I have had a wicked summer cold for the last week but I wouldn't mind taken a crack at this maybe this weekend. Let me know what you think.

Well it's up to Barry... I was working on a rhythm that looks like it might fit the meter on this.

Thanks guys, I appreciate you both.

Rob heck yeah take her and run with it, when ever ya get to feeling up to it.  I think Terry had a good idea with the tempo changes, but shes yours to do with what you want. Looking forward to hearing from you, when the mood and health allows.

Alright bro...but be careful what you wish for.

I will work on completing a chord arrangement during the work week and will ask for your advise on anything that I feel needs to change to fit the song. Then try to get the tracks down this weekend..

Sounds great Rob, what kind of tempo are you hearing? I'm not worried about being careful with my wishes, you must be feeling these lyrics too or you wouldn't want to be involved.

Its a medium to up tempo that I'm hearing on this. I figure about 120 to 140 beats per minute.

Does this bridge work better?

With miles of youth in our rear views

and roads covered up with kids

we're all still kickin' lovin  the life

as those wheels turn 'round again

Or stay with the old????
With rides of youth in our rear views
some are riding with their kids
we're all still here lovin the life

as those wheels turn 'round again

any thoughts?
