Valentine’s Day is suppose to celebrate love and lovers, but I can’t help myself from using it to write a broken-hearted lyric. Sorry! CMA

My Blue Valentine
_______________Verse/Chorus

Verse 1:
Oh, my blue Valentine
Your heart has been broken again
He has left you for good this time
Will you find a way out of the rain
Will you finally see the sunshine

Chorus:
Oh, my blue Valentine
Forget the love that left you behind
The thoughts in your head
The ache in your heart
And urge yourself to make a new start
To feel all the love
To see all the signs
To open your heart to a new Valentine

Verse 2:
Oh, my blue Valentine
Your life has been turned on its head
He left you to find someone new
You need to find a new love instead
Of defying what you know is true

Chorus:
Oh, my blue Valentine
Forget the love that left you behind
The thoughts in your head
The ache in your heart
And urge yourself to make a new start
To feel all the love
To see all the signs
To open your heart to a new Valentine

Bridge:
How long will you let your heart be forsaken
It seems you’ve given more than you’ve taken
But love’s looking at you if you’d just awaken

Chorus:
Oh, my blue Valentine
Forget the love that left you behind
The thoughts in your head
The ache in your heart
And urge yourself to make a new start
To feel all the love
To see all the signs
To open your heart to a new Valentine

Post Chorus:
To open your heart to a new Valentine
Open your heart to a new Valentine

I just heard on the radio that Valentine's Day is the #1 day of the year people file for divorce. That is a crappy stat! Valentine's day is a good day to find a new way to love.

First, I like the title. I like the idea of letting the hurt go and moving on.

Here are a couple thoughts to use or lose:

Just an idea here:
V1 Find your way out of the blinding rain
past the clouds that obscure the sunshine

In the chorus, the use of ache in the heart is common. Feels weak. I love the end line in the chorus - my favorite!

Alternative V2:

Stop replaying the scene in your head/Stop reciting the blame in your head
He has left you for somebody new
allow yourself to move forward instead
find someone who is honest and true

I like this Charles. It's one where I can almost hear the music playing, and I always think that's a good sign.

It's tender and caring, with a ray of hope as well as being sad.

There are certainly a lot of people who get sad on Valentine's Day comparing their current situation against their dreams.

Hope you get it set to music, I'd like to hear it.

Thanks RD Man... I honor you review and comments.

And Andrea, thanks for you fine review. I can’t get myself to make any changes yet, even after reviewing your suggestions numerous times.

Charles
