Hi all,

Wrote this song over the weekend and I would appreciate feedback.

Also, I would like feedback on what genre this is - I can't figure that out myself!

COLD HARD SOUL
(Words by Jonathan Linton, Music by Jonathan Linton)

Was it a birth defect
Or did you learn
To make your blood run cold
Must be proud of all dislikes that you earn
From your stranglehold

I could never do what you do
And live with myself
Shaping shiftin’, which one’s really you
Don’t loose control
Of that cold hard soul

You can drop the act with me, I know
You’re a soul w**
Each climb leaves enemies below
Careful what you ask for

I could never do what you do
And live with myself
Shaping shiftin’, which one’s really you
Don’t loose control
Of that cold hard soul

SOLO

I could never do what you do
And live with myself
Shaping shiftin’, which one’s really you
Don’t loose control
Of that cold hard soul

Cold hard soul (ad lib to end)

I couldn't possibly criticise this because it's right up my street! I love the production, vocals and, of course, the guitar playing. As for the genre? Well, I'm probably too old to know (!), but alternative rock is good enough for me. Well done! A great rock song.:Guitarman1:

Awesome production and delivery! I really liked the bass at the beginning and everything that followed.

Lyrically, I think some tweaking would keep the focus more on the singee than on the singer.

P.S. Genre possibly Heavy metal, or alternative metal

jonlint, you are on my radar - love the hard rock/ metal vibes. I read the lyrics and then listened to the song. I didn't mind the music, but it wasn't what I was expecting. Based on the theme, I was expecting some havey metal crunchy music. I vote you try a second version :)

Got to chime in again here. Everyone has their own take on things. Andrea wants it to be more heavy metal and I totally respect her opinion, but I absolutely love this. I think it's a great song and I think the production fabulous. My music is also rock albeit a very different style, but this inspires me to up my game. Excellent!!:Guitarman2:

I hear you Chris. It is really good as it stands. I love hard rock and metal, so when I see some dark lyrics, I tend to go that direction. Got me thinking of some other songs, and I see your point, but I still wouldn't mind hearing "harder".

Great track! Love it. :)

I'd call it Rock, but that's just me. Whatever you call it, it's great!

I would probably label this pop-rock. This song is very different from what I normally listen to, but I appreciate the lyrics and guitar work as well as the good vocals. I feel the vocals could be more pronounced and clearer, but all around, it's a very good piece of work that has the emotional content that befits its theme.

Johnathan, this is great! I love guitar work on this. Great Mix, the production is perfect. Your vocals are fantastic! Great lyrics! I got meaning of it right away! I love this style of rock..and really miss it not hearing it on the radio anymore...

Professional all the way around. Don't change a thing. It's radio ready as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks for sharing.
