I wrote this last year and it’s pretty much the same. Most of the lines wrap to the next line to a point where it seems disjointed. I did this purposely to emphasize the fractured feelings generated by this doomed love affair. CMA

Still Be Your Song
__________________________AABA
Although I’m still hoping for
That special you, I knew before
From dreams returning me to
When I was learning from you
The ways of love, I can live by
And rhapsodize songs when I sigh
For you, do we belong, might
I still be you song, tonight

All through my days in despair
I pray you will somehow be there
For me, though we live apart
Someday I’ll try to restart
My broken heart and then amend
And harmonize parts once again
For you, to sing along, might
I still be your song, tonight

Bridge:
Oh, how many rhymes will I sing about you; oh, is it true
Oh, how many signs will I see about you; so are we through

And though I still reminisce
The love we shared and our first kiss
Our dreams, our plans, and our schemes
Lost in between, don’t demean
This heart to fend; if I pretend
That somehow we can still be friends
Again, are we too wrong, might
I still be your song, despite

Charles, I swear you must be reading my mail...lol Ive been working on a song with a similar structure. I like this a lot. Love the music metaphors.

Very nice write.

Thanks Bunny. I think, when it’s put to music, the pause at the end of the lines will be shorter due to the wrapping structure. It may be challenging to compose to.
