Over the last few months, I've written a few songs and honestly, I am so bad about using the word "that" as a spacer/counted word to make a meter work, and I have removed a lot of them ( mostly as a result of suggestions) and I have better songs because of it. That being said, I have felt so badly for those words, being left out, well, I decided they needed an entire song of their own. I present 'The That Song'...yeah tongue in cheek but I have sung it, and I wrote it for a guy who does a country comedy stand up / singing routine.

Arduously Abundant Ambiguity (The That Song)

Verse 1
I told you that I needed that to make that thing come true
You said that was the one thing that you could never do
That other thing was the only thing that made your life complete
That if you had that to do that with then life would be so sweet....so

Verse 2
That story that I heard about you going to that place
Reminded me that every time that you're in that head space
That you do that with every fella there that you can find
You know that I told you that it makes me lose my mind....but

Chorus
I don't know about that
I can see that that's crazy
But I know that I think that your love is true.
I'm working on that
It's not that Im lazy
I think that it's time that I found someone new.

Verse 3
I thought that everyone you knew could tell that you were mine
And everything that that entailed was always on your mind
When you heard that I said "That does it", that was all it took
That sent you out that old back door without a second look....well

Bridge
Thats all that seems to matter
Thats what thats all about
That's everything that everyone should do
That's what you said that happens
That can take you down that hole
That's the things that make you come unglued.......anyway.

Verse 4
That night you told me that the things that brought you back to me
Were the only things that I thought that you needed endlessly
It seems those things that seem to make that difference to you
Are the only things that you want that I cannot seem to do....but

Chorus
I don't know about that
I can see that that's crazy
But I know that I think that your love is true.
I'm working on that
It's not that I'm lazy
I think that it's time that I found someone new

Coda
And that's just about all that I have to say about that

That’s crazy! That’s one song where without the thats the song’s all wrong.
Sometimes a little humor about THAT is just fun. JUST is another one that can be a filler. I’ve used them both in titles. And it’s just that I like ‘em.

Charles, glad you got it. Obviously the song isnt for everyone, but I definitely think it serves its intended purpose. The fellow thats going to use this in hs act, does a lot of Ray Stevens and other novelty type songs and wanted something original and somewhat cerebral that built as it went on. He liked it. Hell use it probably the way I presented it with, hes just using up all the thats previously removed.

Thanks for the comments
