I personally don’t relate the A-types, but that doesn’t mean I ain’t gonna write about them. CMA

It Wouldn’t Last
_______________Verse/Chorus
Chorus 1:
We knew it wouldn’t last
Our love was fading fast
The words we spoke made no sense
Our emotions were too intense
The rift between us was too vast
As we both knew it wouldn’t last

Verse 1:
We had much in common when we met
We could read each other’s mind
We had great fun, we were a set
And talked together in a rhyme
We’d bait each other on a bet
Our competition was a crime

Chorus: (as above)
We knew it wouldn’t last
Our love was fading fast
The words we spoke made no sense
Our emotions were too intense
The rift between us was too vast
As we both knew it wouldn’t last

Verse 2:
We tried to patch the gash between us
Listed steps to mend the split
We thought we’d need break to wean us
From the love-drug we couldn’t quit
We felt this fling would demean us
As our flirtation was unfit

Bridge:
Why did we fall in love
We’re woefully aggressive
We’re overly expressive
What were we thinking of

Chorus: (as above)
We knew it wouldn’t last
Our love was fading fast
The words we spoke made no sense
Our emotions were too intense
And rift between us was too vast
As we both knew it wouldn’t last

Post Chorus:
Our fate was finally cast
We knew it wouldn’t last

Charles, among other things, nice structure, great rhymes, partiicularly verse 2, nice chorus, we're > were in the bridge ( a nit pick for sure, you couldnt of seen it or youd never have left it)..And the subject works, but what strikes me most about the song is the possibility for crossover...it works country and rock...but would nicely translate to rap as well.

Cool.

Gash between us? How about "gap"? One of your better songs, btw

Thanks for your compliment, SW Joe. I think I originally had ‘gap’ but changed to ‘gash’ because it’s more severe, more blood. These two are a bad mix, like nitro and glycerin —just a bit of agitation. Harmless by themselves.

Thanks for the correction and kind remarks. I didn’t know where to place it —rock or country. But rap... yea, that could work!
