Welcome To The Club!
Lyrics © Copyright 2019
Joe Givens

Hey ladies and gents..
Looks like we found us another brand new member!
So, what’s your name, son?

"Ummmm, John, sir"

Well, Johnny boy, guess y'all came to the right place.
Come pull yourself up a bar stool and meet the members of our lil' group!

{V1}

Welcome to the club.. it's growin' bigger every day!
Full-a broken hearts an’ lovin' that's grown cold
Welcome to the club.. step right up and c'mon in..
There's no members fee and nothin' to be sold.

Ol' Bobbie over there's the charter member
She started this club 20 years ago
She caught her lover cheatin' with another
The more she drinks the more the teardrops flow

{To Chorus}

{V2}

It ain't no high class place by anybody's measure.
The walls are bare, no pictures can be seen
Folks come here to drink away sad mem'ries
And wash away forgotten broken dreams

Welcome to the club.. there's a chair over by the wall
You're never alone long here so it seems
Welcome to the club.. we can see you fit right in
The club of "wish we weres" and broken hearts and dreams

{To Chorus}

{V3}

Becomin' a member here is too damn easy
Be sure an' tell your friends an' family
There’s lotsa room here at the clubhouse
To let everybody share your misery

Welcome to the club.. you never have to be alone
You’ll always find some comfort waitin' here
Welcome to the club.. Yeah, look and you may find
Some understandin' soul to share a tear.

{Chorus}

Don’t worry 'bout feelin' like you don’t belong
We’ve all been there so many times before
Kick your chair back while they play them sad ol' songs
Until you're not so darn lonely any more.

Welcome to the club.. Soon you’ll fit right in
Some of these folks here never leave this place
Welcome to the club.. Lotsa whiskey, rum and beer
An' a 5 man live band a-rockin' out the place.

{END}

Hi SW Joe. I like this so far. I think you have three choruses hidden in the verses. Stanza 1 of verse 1 and stanzas 2 of the outer verses. Work the meter and line length to be the same and you’ve got it! What do you think? Also your intro set the lyric up nicely.

Charles

Joe, Fantastic concept. It wont take too much to knock this one out. Got your 3 good adpects here...meet the members, describe the place, who we are/what happens. Coda/outro wraps up nicely.. personal touches in v1 are really nice. You might just find some sypsthetic soul to share a tear... thats nice,really nice.
Oh yeah, I like a song with an intro...always have.

Bunny

Thanks. Sent it off to my co-writer. See what kind of melody he sets it to. I think I corrected the meter and it should be "singable" now.
