This is a rewrite of a lyric I wrote for a composer that wasn’t used.

Eyes On The Prize
__________________Verse/Chorus
Verse 1:
Gene has a scheme to realize his dream, he planned out different ways
He ain’t leaving unforeseen to fate
As he works it out things go south, barely made it passed first phase
Can he change or is it just too late

Chorus:
With your eyes on the prize
Make minus a plus, don’t fuss
And look beyond the bend
Pick up your cross, drop the loss
And focus on the end

Verse 2:
Kay tries a way to keep that stuff at bay through a ten-step plan
She knows her choice will affect her guy
She sees her fate at step eight to drop the plan or lose her man
Can she change and kiss her guy goodbye

Chorus:
With your eyes on the prize
Make minus a plus, don’t fuss
And look beyond the bend
Pick up your cross, drop the loss
And focus on the end

Verse 3:
Ted’s in the red, he spends all his bread on stuff he doesn’t need
Finds a plan to cure him of his sprees
Months of tight budget, as agreed, is it too much to proceed
Can he change and learn to live debt free

Chorus:
With your eyes on the prize
Make minus a plus, don’t fuss
And look beyond the bend
Pick up your cross, drop the loss
And focus on the end

Bridge:
When we hit those walls that block our path
Remember there’s always a bypass
Work it through, change your view, do the math
And make this test your breakthrough

Chorus:
With your eyes on the prize
Make minus a plus, don’t fuss
And look beyond the bend
Pick up your cross, drop the loss
And focus on the end

Charles, Great characterizations... good storyline, great chorus, and that bridge is great ties it all together as a bridge should.

Thanks Bunny. The verses and chorus were longer when it was set to the music. I cut out the fat and changed the bridge to bring it together succinctly. I’m pleased you like it.

Charles
