Just a simple country song about a girl who grows up.

(In Her Heart) She Is A Woman of the World

Verses 1 & 2
She was a pretty girl in a plain way
And a smart girl in a simple way
She couldn't always tell you how
But she could always tell you why

She wrote poems on the sidewalk
In cursive, using pastel chalk
Decorated them with flowers
Hearts dotting every "i"

Chorus:
Shes still a child in her daddys eyes
A young lady to her momma
Her Grandma always calls her Baby Girl
She is a dreamer for the future
Who gets nostalgic for the past
And in her heart she is a woman of the world

Verses 3 & 4
She was was a cautious girl with a wild hair
Had homespun taste with a city flair
With clothes that didn't always match
But her purse went with her shoes

She was a pony tail in an up-doo age
Who wrote "I love you's" on a notebook page
She always smelled of Jergen's soap
And green apple shampoo

Chorus:
She's still a child in her daddy's eyes
A young lady to her momma
Her Grandma always calls her Baby Girl
She is a dreamer for the future
Who gets nostalgic for the past
And in her heart she is a woman of the world

Verses 5 & 6
She was a beauty who she never saw it
And the sweetheart who ignored it
When the one she loved had roving eyes
As she looked the other way

She wrote secrets in her diary
Where she understood the irony
Of the fact that she gave everything
As he threw it all away

Chorus:
Shes still a child in her daddy's eyes
A young lady to her momma
Her Grandma always calls her Baby Girl
She is a dreamer for the future
Who gets nostalgic for the past
And in her heart she is a woman of the world

Bridge:
She's still pretty in a simple way
A little jaded from from the daily news
She still loves the smell of Jergen's soap
And her purse goes with her shoes

Chorus:
Shes still a child in her daddy's eyes
A young lady to her momma
Her Grandma always calls her Baby Girl
She is a dreamer for the future
Who gets nostalgic for the past
And in her heart she is a woman of the world

And in her heart she is a woman of the world.

I love this one Bunny! There's a warmth to it that is very appealing.

I think my favourite lines are:
She wrote poems on the sidewalk
In cursive using pastel chalk

but they are all good.

The chorus works a charm

"smileys" didn't feel 100% to me. Hearts or Love hearts maybe? Or even smiles?

Perhaps hometown > homespun

And I might switch these slightly to be:
The one she loved had roving eyes
When she looked the other way

Both those are small things. It's a lovely, lovely lyric

Thanks RDM. I liked hearts for smileys... was a place where I had left a word out until just before I posted it...I had tried smileys, flowers, bees, emojis...lol

Thanks for the read and the suggestions.
