Number 11 in my 30 in 30.The story of Bud meets Alice...Alice scares Bud...Bud constantly thinks of AliceThe melody for this one is already written, an oddity for me. Parts of this song are structurally based on a song I wrote many years ago, that I never chose to do anything with. Hope you enjoy it.
Bunny

Ain't New Love Sweet

Verse 1
Into Wally's Net Cafe
Got his Tinder app turned on
Bud's there to meet a new girl,
And spend time with her alone
He searches for the redhead
That he's come here to see
They leave that shop together
And the rest is history

Chorus
Ain't new love sweet,
Its such a mystery
Ain't new love such a treat
Its magic cant you see
Theres nothing like the feeling of a new love
To sweep you off of your feet
Turning your life upside down
Ain't new love sweet

Verse 2
Shes Alice and she tells him
That shes from out of town
Said she's nervous so her room
Is where she'd rather fool around
Bud cant believe his ears
Shes never done this before
She even wants to kill the lights
As her clothes fall to the floor

Chorus
Ain't new love sweet,
Its such a mystery
Ain't new love such a treat
Its magic cant you see
Theres nothing like the feeling of a new love
To sweep you off of your feet
Turning your life upside down
Ain't new love sweet

Verse 3
When Alice turned the lights on
Bud couldn't believe his eyes
"You must be this tall to ride"
Was Tattooed on her inner thighs
Her leather studded bustier told him
How she wanted to play
This wasn't just your average hookup
It was 50 shades of Alice Grey

Chorus
Ain't new love sweet,
Its such a mystery
Ain't new love such a treat
Its magic cant you see
Theres nothing like the feeling of a new love
To sweep you off of your feet
Turning your life upside down
Ain't new love sweet

Verse 4
Bud turned off his Tinder app
And he tries to play it cool
No longer looks for hook ups
Hates looking like a fool
He only sleeps with girls he's met
And alone if theres a doubt
But he often dreams of Alice
And how New Love...wore him out

Chorus
Ain't new love sweet,
Its such a mystery
Ain't new love such a treat
Its magic cant you see
Theres nothing like the feeling of a new love
To sweep you off of your feet
Turning your life upside down
Ain't new love sweet

Hey Bunny, I’m a little confused with the Bud and Wally thing. It’s Wally’s joint and Bud’s meeting Alice there. Why’s Wally mentioned in verse 2? Other than that, it’s a pretty cool lyric, once again you did it!

Lol ... yup it was either a glitch in the transporter room...or a typo/copy-paste error. Thats too funny ...sorry for the confusion. It happens.

Thanks for finding it.

I'd go further. Beyond the 'Wally's Net Cafe' reference, I don't think Wally should appear in the lyric - he's just not relevant and a distraction.

But I like the lyric overall. It's amusing and different, and I like the wry humour of the chorus as it changes meaning after each verse.

You might switch:
And spend some time alone with her > And spend some time with her alone

"Bud thinks he's here to see"
That line led me to guess that the lady was going to turn out to be someone other than Alice, and the story progress from there. Maybe you want that tension, but otherwise I'd rewrite that to be more definite that this is the girl he is looking for

"And how New Love...wore him out"
That's a funny line. Doesn't regret it, just doesn't want to do it again! Nice! :)

Thanks RDM ... great suggestions... another set of eyes... had originally written the title and hook to be aint young love sweet ... song took a bit of a turn and it honestly sounded just a little perverted... and had Wally doing an actual introduction that I abandoned ...lol...without abandoning Wally....he doesnt need to be there. In my mind somewhere, I had the idea that Bud was cautious of being Catfished with the line thinks hes here to meet...

At any rate... I like the changes that I implemented... reads better... musically the veses have a more serious tone tothem and the chorus is intentionally lyrical and lilting and'overly happy to stress the irony and the twist. Glad you noticed that the meaning of the chorus changes verse by verse... makes me happy when someone gets it. And of course... new love...wore him out...has a pause and the wore him out phase will be recited. Then back to that lilting chorus.
