Caught In Catch-22
__________________Verse/Chorus
Verse 1:
I shoulda stayed, she said get lost
Her eyes flashed a diff’rent cry
And then I thought about the cost
But either way goes awry

Chorus:
Stayed or left or right or wrong
Do I zip it up or sing this song
Either way I choose, I lose
And I’m caught in Catch-22

Verse 2:
I said turn left, she said go right
Left’s backed up and right’s bridge out
Detour or wait, don’t wanna fight
Seems either way I lose out

Chorus: (as above)
Stayed or left or right or wrong
Do I zip it up or sing this song
Either way I choose, I lose
And I’m caught in Catch-22

Verse 3:
I know I’m right, she says I’m wrong
Why can’t we both compromise
Will we regret or get it on
But either way closeness dies

Chorus: (as above)
Stayed or left or right or wrong
Do I zip it up or sing this song
Either way I choose, I lose
And I’m caught in Catch-22

Bridge:
I wish I could win but chances are slim
The choices I’ve got have led to naught
But choosing then losing has a good side
I’m learning to take bad luck in strides
And I understand what fate has for me
My future is what I make it to be

Chorus: (as above)
Stayed or left or right or wrong
Do I zip it up or sing this song
Either way I choose, I lose
And I’m caught in Catch-22

Chorus: (repeat, as above)
Stayed or left or right or wrong
Do I zip it up or sing this song
Either way I choose, I lose
And I’m caught in Catch-22

This is fun. Gotta hook and a sing-a-long chorus. Love the internal rhyme in the bridge. Lol, was like you read my mail from 50 years ago...story of my high school life. Nice write.

Gotta a good country vibe. Definitely the makings of a fun catchy song. I like it.

I particularly like the chorus, Charles.
I like how you use the left/right with other comparisons, that's clever.
And the last two lines seem like they should sing really well:
Either way I choose, I lose
And I’m caught in Catch-22

Not sure I think this is a fun song, but definitely a good one! :)

Very relatable, it's the truth sometimes in life we get caught in these no-win situations. I really enjoyed the lyrics, I think it's a great country song and very relatable.

When I figured out the title, my objective was to bring out the misfortune of these no win situation. But once I penned the chorus I saw it was gonna be kinda fun too. I’m so good at losing in these situations that I take pride in being a loser. But winners and losers are two of a kind. Huh, another good lyric title!

Charles, nice write. I like the theme. Might want to lose one of the outs in v2 but overall it’s pretty good.

I appreciate the positive review, Mike. I checked out the outs, but without out #2, I’m without a rhyme and the line is without a syllable. So outing the out is not without structural problems I can do without. I’m outta here!

Thanks, I’ve been caught there quite a few times as probably most of us have.

Ya know, I had a lot of fun writing it once I got my ducks in line. But there’s a serious message here. A tongue-in-cheek approach.
