Wanted

V1
Hoover was an outlaw
He'd steal anything you had
checkered shirt, and bandit's mask
He was handsome, brave and bad
Rode into town in the springtime
Banished from where he'd roamed
Looking for a new life
And a Place to call his home

C1
But he was Wanted
Trying hard to settle down
Wanted
New life in a new town.
Wanted
All he ever hoped to see
Never loved the bandit life but all that he could be was
Wanted

V2
Belle was from the Badlands
An old scar told her tale
Rough around the edges
But a lady you could tell
That the spring day she met Hoover
Stole her heart in just a minute
She would never be the same
He showed her love, and she fell in it

C2
And she was Wanted
She was the love of his life
Wanted
Though she'd never be a wife
Wanted
All she ever hoped to find
Was freedom as her outlaw left his bandit ways ibehind
He was Wanted

Bridge part1
Years spent with each other
The good times and the tough
Hanging up those bandit boots
Knowing her love was enough

Wanted
Wanted

Bridge pt 2
Time wears away a body
No one is immune
She Never left his side those last days
And he Left poor Belle too soon

Wanted
Wanted

V3
Feeble in these last years
Missing her true love
Auburn hair now grey with age
She knows hes up above
Although he was an outlaw
And a bad boy from the start
His only crime since he rode in
Was leaving with her heart

C3
He's wanted
For her love he settled down
Wanted
His new life in this new town
Wanted
She dreams about the day
She rides into his new town and she can hear him say
You're Wanted

Wanted.....(fade)

I like this one a lot!
It's a good story, and you can feel the rhythm of it.

My only suggestion is to remove the "longing for love" phrase. I know that's where we are heading but at that point in the song it doesn't flow from the masked bandit lines above. I think if you keep it to "Looking for a mew life ... And a Place to call his home" it would feel smoother and the love references make more sense once Belle has been introduced.

Otherwise, really strong write!

Thanks RDM, great suggestion. Reads much better...so it will sing much better. Musically I havent done a thing with it other than in my head. Not sure Ill ever be able to actually.
The story is about my 2 Jack Russell Terriers that we adopted 15 years ago, when they were 2 years old... we lost Hoover the first week of July, and Belle is growing feeble, blind, and mourns her love, constantly pacing the house.
I couldnt think of a better way to honor them than to do so in song and the cowboy/bandit themed metaphor worked for me.
Thanks for the suggestion and comments. Some songs just write themselves , ya know.

What a lovely way to remember them. And it gave you a wonderful song too!

Yeah, it always sucks when they leave us.

It sounds like they had a long and happy life together and with you. It doesn't get much better than that.

I love this Bonnie & Clyde story song! It sounds like Bonnie Raitt or Linda Ronstadt leading Hotel California-era Eagles, since I can tell you love 70's Country/Rock! :)
