First time posting here. I'm a big boy, don't hold back. (well, maybe a little)

V1
I find myself wondering what happened on music row.
I can’t find a country song on my country radio.
Balladeers and the outlaws are nowhere to be found.
Troubadours and country singers got run right out of town.

Nobody’s singing songs like Keith Whitley anymore.
The King of Country rode off on his last tour.
The legends are signing off for that big stage in the sky,
Leaving real honkytonk singers with the blues and wondering, why?

Chorus
The voice of Hank still haunts me,
And the songs of the Hag won’t let me be.
And I still hear George Jones asking, Who’s gonna fill their shoes?
While I’m singing the country music blues.
Lord, while I’m singing the country music blues.

V2
Sometimes you want to hear just three chords and the truth.
Or a man singing ‘bout drowning all his sorrows in 90 proof.
Country ain’t just about drinking beer, pickup trucks, and cutoff jeans.
If that’s all you’re singing 'bout you don’t know what country means.

Country music used to be about life, loss, and love.
Working hard for a living, thanking the good Lord up above.
These days so-called country songs ain’t got nothing to say.
They don’t touch your heart like Mama Tried or rolling down that Lost Highway.

Chorus
The voice of Hank still haunts me,
and the voice of the Hag won’t let me be.
And I still hear George Jones asking, Who’s gonna fill their shoes?
While I’m singing the country music blues.
Lord, while I’m singing the country music blues.

Hey BRD, I think you got it here. We need to get back to our good old country roots. There’s nothing like a Hank Williams song. That’s what I’m talking about! Great lyric!

Charles

Nice to see another echo my exact sentiments! I’d probably drop country in v1 line 2. I don’t feel it’s necessary, due to the references in the song. Plus I think it reads fine without it. I think any fan of traditional country is right there with you.

What a line...three chords and the truth. It doesnt get any better than that. I like it.

Great view that many would agree with, somewhere along the line real country got threw off the train.

I think your message is going to go down well with a lot of Country fans BRD!

There's some strong lines here. I was particularly drawn to:
I can’t find a country song on my country radio.
and
Sometimes you want to hear just three chords and the truth.

I don't know if you already have music for this or not.
Just reading the chorus, the rhythm felt slightly out so I would suggest:
And the songs of the Hag won’t let me be. > And the Hag won’t let me be.
And I still hear George Jones asking, Who’s gonna fill their shoes? > I can hear George Jones asking, Who’s gonna fill their shoes?
Lord, while I’m singing the country music blues. > Lord, I’m singing the country music blues.

but obviously if it already fits to music then no problem!

Country is not my favored genre, but I am liking this! I can hear it in my head as I read it. I really love the chorus :)
