On The Southbound Train Again
Verse/Chorus
Verse 1:
Pretty miss, she likes to play this country boy
Toyed with me so many times I tend
To always fall inside her twisted ploy
End up on the southbound train again

 Chorus 1:
I see the way her eyes move
I hear the way her sighs smooth
Repeatin’ all her lies is but a ruse
I’ve seen it all before; I can’t pretend
It’s time I realize...
I’m on the southbound train again

Verse 2:
Didn’t see, to me she seems so natural
She spins lies and makes me want to spend
But lately I’ve found she not factual
Still I’m on the southbound train again

Chorus 1: (as above)
I see the way her eyes move
I hear the way her sighs smooth
Repeatin’ all her lies is but a ruse
I’ve seen it all before; I can’t pretend
It’s time I realize...
I’m on the southbound train again

Verse 3:
Witty me, I’ll catch her when she cheats on me
Play her as she did to me, but then
I’m chancin’ that she’ll somehow set me free
Put me on the southbound train again

Chorus 1: (as above)
I see the way her eyes move
I hear the way her sighs smooth
Repeatin’ all her lies is but a ruse
I’ve seen it all before; I can’t pretend
It’s time I realize...
I’m on the southbound train again

Verse 4:
Pity me, to stay and live a life of lies
Maybe I should try not to pretend
And I don’t have the strength to say good-bye
Lord, I’m on the southbound train again

Chorus 2:
I see the way her eyes move
I hear the way her sighs smooth
Repeatin’ all her lies is but a ruse
I’ve seen it all before; I can’t pretend
This time it’s no surprise...
I’m on the southbound train again

Post Chorus:
This time it’s no surprise
She’s doin’ it again
It’s time I realize...
I’m on the southbound train again

Really like the tag line here about the southbound train. I really like the setup and the themes. Very traditional vibes which I dig. Thanks for sharing.

Yea BRD, I like to hit that southern twang of the steel guitar every now and then to relive those experiences. I think this lyric does it. Though lately find myself writing lyrics that fit more than one genre making them had to classify. But not this one. Thanks,

Charles

Very nice one Charles. I like the southbound train reference...emotional steamer running right through him.

Thanks for the positive review guys. I let this lyric sit for years because I didn’t like the title. I finally came up with ‘On The Southbound Train Again.’ I think it works.
