If you comment please let me know which ending you like better, 1 or 2. Also working on one called Allergic to sober but thought I’d use the line in this one.

V1
Took a swig again this morning
Cause my head was pounding bad
Wife said I got a monkey
Ridin’ On my back

V2
She said I needed help
And though I kinda feel the same
I said I ain’t goin’ to AA
I don’t play that 12 step game

Chorus
I’ve entered into
The drinkers hall of shame
The only prize is my demise
There’s no first or last place

Everywhere I go
Every time I know
It’ll all end up the same
Cause I’ve entered into
The drinkers hall of shame

V3
She laid out all my options
Said it’s time you get some help
Your eyes are always bloodshot
To tell the truth you look like hell

V4
So just before she walked out
And told me it was over
I said it isn’t my fault
If I’m allergic to sober

Chorus
I’ve entered into
The drinkers hall of shame
The only prize is my demise
There’s no first or last place

Everywhere I go
Every time I know
It’ll all end up the same
Since I’ve entered into
The drinkers hall of shame

Ending 1
Seems every night by the neon light
I think about my old flame
Since I’ve entered into
The drinkers hall of shame

Or

Ending 2
She tried to get me sober
But the truth is she’s to blame
For me getting into
The drinkers hall of shame

(Spoken)
If only she’d a quit nagging

It's a good one, Mike!

I prefer the 2nd ending. If you go that way you might try:
For me getting into > For putting me into

My other suggestion would be:
There’s no first or last place > We're all racing for last place
(or something like that)

It's funny. You've put it in Country, Alan hears Rock and I fell into a Blues rhythm! Seems you have options here :D

Thanks guys. I guess I didn’t even consider another genre. Owen the one line you mentioned I was up in the air about myself. Thanks for looking at.
