In your deepest darkest hour
When even shadows go to hide
If you’re ever sad and lonely
There’s nothing I won’t sacrifice

When you can’t wait until morning
To find your shelter in the sun
Please know I’ll always be here
To help you overcome

I’d rather be somebody’s moon
Help put the stars back in your eyes
Everyone can find their sun
Yet so few can see the light

Even though I’m just a man
And my days may run out soon
Till my last breath is gone
I’d rather be somebody’s moon

My sacrifice is my love
Love I hope that you can feel
Remember when you fight your battles
And life seems as if it’s all uphill

You can call me on the phone
If you’ve lost your paradise
You know I’ll be here till my end
Don’t hesitate and don’t think twice

I’d rather be somebody’s moon
Help put the stars back in your eyes
Everyone can find their sun
Yet so few can see it’s light

Even though I’m just a man
And my days may run out soon
Till my last breath is gone
I’d rather be somebody’s moon

I’d rather be somebody’s moon
As long as that somebody’s you

It works and works very well. I especially like:
Everyone can find the sun
But so few can see the light.

And the post chorus:
I’d rather be somebody’s moon
As long as that somebody’s you.

A sweet lyric that would make a sweet song.

Great lyrics MP. They have a real good flow to them.

Thanks for the comments guys. I wasn’t sure if the somebody’s moon would work with how the rest of the lyrics were structured hence the last line to help clear it up. Thanks for looking.

I think "somebody's moon" sounds great and slips easily into the lyric, and to me that's the more important thing. I think you may lose a few people on the meaning, but if it sounds good, they'll sing it anyway!

Owen, that was the concern I had with this one. It’s kind of the opposite of the norm. Thanks for your thoughts.

Another amazing, touching song! THis sounds like early-mid 90's Country (1990-1996). The lyrics are inspired by Classic/Traditional Country, but I can hear a more Modern, Contemporary melody.
