Who I Aspire To
AABA Duet
A1:
Man:
Where do I turn
What path do I take
When I only yearn
And have one desire
Woman:
To focus my goal
And make no mistake
To release my soul
To you, who I aspire to

A2:
Man:
What can I do
What is there to say
There is only you
I solely admire
Woman:
So please help me see
And take me away
To where I can be
With you, who I aspire to

Bridge:
Both:
Life can be so cruel, I was such a fool, resistant as a mule
Then you came to me, showed what life could be, now I’m feeling free

A3:
Man:
To learn about you
And all that you are
Woman:
Your love that is true
My soul to inspire
Both:
And my heart to give
Since you are my star
That shines where I live
It’s you, who I aspire to

Break: (Instrumental bridge music)

A1: (repeat, build)
Man:
Where do I turn
What path do I take
Woman:
When I only yearn
And have one desire
Both:
To focus my goal
And make no mistake
To release my soul
To you, who I aspire to

Coda:
Both:
To you, who I aspire to
To you, who I aspire to

Hi Charles, This is quite nice. I like the positive loving tone of the piece. I hear rap when I read it, but it works for me.

The bride could be drawn out as a contrast.

Actually Charles, I have rtead this 6 or 8 times trying to get a gender perspective on this and the last time i played it in my head, I thought, DUET splitting the verses 4 and 4, singing to each other...harmony on the bridge ... last verse split the first 4 lines 2 and 2 the harmonize the last 4 ...thinking Peabo/Roberta type soul duet.

Hey Bunny,
I tried not to identify the gender whereas it could be sung by either. But I never thought of a duet. That’s intriguing! I kinda felt this lyric was mediocre but you’ve shown me a whole new perspective. And after the fourth stanza add an instrumental reflecting the bridge, and then repeat the fourth stanza with a build for a finale. What do you think?

Charles

As a sworn officer of the Gramnar Police, I was about to pull you over for ending a sentence with a preposition, but I consulted with my sergeant, (Webster) and he assured me that aspire to was an acceptable exception to the law as written.
So we'll let you off with a warning this time as long as your poetic license hasn't expired.

Okay Bunny, I made it a duet. Thanks for the inspiration. It’s like your my right brain (creativity) times two.
