Lots of years have passed us by
I'm surely now a different guy
life didn't quite go my way
watched my dreams drift away

living rough, ... times not been so good
things not worked out how they should
I got memories of better days
some of those have started to fade

an old friend put us back in touch
to meet again might be too much
I'm just a shadow of my old me
not the man I wanted to be

I have no image that can be sold
my newest tee shirt must be five years old
that together with my faded jeans
shows I'm not a man of means

I often just lay in my bed
a million thoughts going through my head
dark depressions fill me with dread
think I might be better dead

my ragged jeans and an old tee shirt
an old pair of trainers covered in dirt
that's the image I display
that's the man I am today

I have no image that can be sold
my newest tee shirt must be five years old
that together with my faded jeans
shows I'm not a man of means

and has my days draw to an end
I'll remember you has my bestest friend
thoughts of you bring to me a smile
cheers me for a little while

Alan, to the point and a topic most can relate to. Few small changes bestest to dearest. Thoughts of you bring me a smile and cheer me up for a little while. Guessing you just may have missed typing the up in the last line. It works.

Gets across the state of depression very clearly.

Not convinced about the title, doesn't feel like there is enough emphasis on it in the lyric to justify that. Maybe a bit more focus on that if you feel it is at the core of the song.
